Rutland Eagles Special Olympics enjoyed an afternoon at Green Mountain College on Saturday, February 16th as club members were in attendance to watch GMC take on New England College in men's and women's basketball at the Eagle Dome.
WORCESTER, Mass. - Members of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) came together recently for a day-long leadership seminar hosted by the ECAC at the Hilton Garden Inn in Worcester, Mass. Over 70 student-athletes representing three Division III New England Conferences, including nearly 20 from NAC member institutions, participated in an interactive lecture as part of the student-athlete leadership seminar.
YORK, Maine - Members of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) recently met for a day-long retreat at the York Harbor Inn. As part of the retreat, 29 student-athletes representing the 10 NAC institutions participated in cookie decorating and mask making for the upcoming opening ceremonies for the York area Special Olympics.
As part of the their community service objectives for the 2009-10 academic year, the Johnson State College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee participated, in conjunction with the JSC Center for Service Learning (SERVE), in the 2nd Annual JSC Drop n Swap.
On November 12th, the North Atlantic Conference Student Athlete Advisory Council gathered in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, for their first meeting of the academic year. 23 representatives from 10 member institutions participated in this full day event.
On March 23rd & 24th, the North Atlantic Conference held its first annual Student Athlete Retreat on Castleton's campus in Castleton, Vermont. Student-Athlete representatives from nine member school participated in the event, funded through the NCAA Conference Grant Program. The focus of this year's conference was on personal leadership and teamwork.
The NCAA National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee selected the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) SAAC as the Conference SAAC Spotlight recipient in November 2006 for its efforts toward developing a sound meeting structure and work on sportsmanship. The NCAA noted that "the NAC has elected officers, developed committee operation policies and has established a list serve to improve communication for its members."
