NEC's Audet Named NCBWA Division III National Rookie of the Week
New England College freshman Shane Audet (Springfield, Mass.) has earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) Division III National Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
Audet turned in a sparkling performance in a 6-0 win over Lasell College on March 24 by allowing just one hit and recording 13 strikeouts in the seven-inning complete game.
The rookie hurler has been extremely consistent for the Pilgrims this season. He is 4-0 in starts, holds a 1.44 ERA and has pitched a team-leading 39 strikeouts this season while giving up just 10 hits in 25.0 innings of work. He has earned North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week honors four times this season and is a one-time pitcher of the week honoree.
