NAC Menís Basketball All-Conference Teams Announced
Husson senior Buddy Leavitt was honored as the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches. Leavitt knocked down nearly four 3-point shots per game during conference play, averaging 17.6 points per contest while leading Husson to a 13-1 conference mark and East division title.
Toby Brittian and Michael Lush of Lesley were both honored on the all-conference first team. The duo led the Lynx to an 8-7 mark, 13-13 overall in the first season of the schoolís menís basketball program. Brittian averaged a league-leading 22.9 points with 3.1 blocks per game while shooting 60% from the field. Lush was right behind his teammate dropping 21.0 points and 2.3 steals per contest. Both were among the league leaders in field goal percentage, free throw percentage and steals per game.
Johnson State senior forward Frank Ponte and Lasell sophomore forward Jamie Crawford round out the first team selections. Ponte led the Badgers with 22.5 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 52% from the floor. Crawford averaged 19.1 points while hitting 84% of his free throws during league action for the Lasers.
Thomas freshman forward Aecio Madeira earned NAC Rookie of the Year honors. Madeira led all freshman averaging 15.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest during conference play.
Husson College head coach Warren Caruso was honored as NAC Coach of the Year. Caruso, in his 12th year, has amassed a 238-109 mark as head coach of the Eagles. Castleton State and Johnson State shared the Team Sportsmanship Award. NAC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches. Additional players honored are due to ties in the voting.
