NAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honors
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Aswad Thomas, Elms
(Junior, Guard – Hartford, Conn.)
Thomas averaged 16 points, 5 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 4.7 steals
in three NAC tournament games leading the Blazers to their fourth
straight title. The junior guard scored 19 points in a semifinal
victory and added a game high 17 in the championship game.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mark Stevens, Lesley University
(SR, G - Las Vegas, Nev.)
In two crucial NAC victories over Thomas College and
UMaine-Farmington, senior Mark Stevens averaged 23.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg,
1.0 apg, and 2.0 spg. In a dramatic 87-81 overtime victory over
Thomas, Stevens had his best game of the week scoring 29 points on
11-of-16 shooting from the field. In the two games, the captain
shot 58.1% from the floor, 41.7% on three-pointers, and 75.0% from
the line. The wins earned Lesley a first round home playoff game.

Dan Gonzalez, Elms College
(Fr., G - East Windsor, CT)
Gonzalez poured in a collegiate career-high 23 points on 8 of 11
shooting, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range, in just 18 minutes
to help the Blazers extend their win streak to 10 straight games
with a 101-62 conference victory at Wheelock last Saturday.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Juan Galdon, Elms College
(So., G - Holyoke, MA)
Galdon averaged 19.0 points to help lead the Blazers extend their
win streak to eight straight games with three conference road
victories last week at Lesley, Castleton and Johnson State. In the
win over Johnson State, Galdon netted a game-high 29 points that
included a perfect 10 for 10 effort at the free throw line.
On the week, Galdon shot nearly 50% from the field including 6-13
from the 3-point line.

Jesus Trejo, Lesley University
(FR, C - Methuen, Mass.)
Jesus Trejo averaged 7.3 ppg and 9.7 rpg in three games when
Lesley went 2-1 against the North Atlantic Conference. His best
performance came against Maine Maritime Academy when he had 13
points and nine rebounds in a 57-54 victory.

CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Matt St. John, Me.-Farmington
(SR, G - Wayne, ME)
St. John led the Beavers to a 2-1 week averaging 21 points per
contest, including a pair of NAC victories. St. John powered
Farmington with 29 points -- including his 1,000th career point --
with nine 3-pointers in a win over Lesley. The following night he
dumped in 25 points with seven 3-pointers in a victory against
Wheelock.
Brock Bradford, Husson
(So, G - Kenduskeag, ME)
The Eagles were 3-0 this week with two conference wins and a solid
non-conference win over Gordon College. Bradford averaged 22
points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 steal for the week. He tallied
24 points and 8 assists in a come from behind win over Castleton.
Bradford hit 24 out of 27 foul shots on the week.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Chad Paddock, Maine Maritime Academy
(Sophomore, Forward - Dayton, OH)
Paddock averaged 14.5 points and 4 rebounds in MMA's 1-1 week.
Paddock had a career high 24 points in a win vs Johnson State,
going 12 for 13 from the floor. He was 14-17 from the floor this
week, a scorching 82%.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Juan Galdon, Elms College

Galdon averaged 20.0 points, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists to help
lead the Blazers to a pair of conference home wins over Maine
Maritime Academy and NAC East Division frontrunner Husson. In
Saturday's win over Husson, Galdon netted a game-high 23 points on
9 of 18 shooting, including three 3-pointers.

Ian Passino, Johnson State College
(Fr., G - Peru, N.Y.)
Ian Passino helped Johnson State to a 1-1 week by contributing
seven points per game off the bench while shooting 50% from the
field and 3-point line.

Co-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Joey Farley, Castleton State
College
(Sr., Guard - Fairlee, VT)
Pressed into the starting lineup due to injury, Farley responded
by averaging 27 points, five rebounds and two assists over a 1-1
NAC weekend for the Spartans. Farley canned 12-27 from three-point
land on the weekend, and scored a career-high 34 in a win at
Wheelock.
Travis Suber, Becker College
(JR, G - Springfield, MA)
Travis averaged 28 points, 5.5 steals, 4.0 assists and 3.5
rebounds for the Hawks (8-9, 5-2 NAC). The Hawks went 1-1 in NAC
action last week. In an 88-83 loss to Thomas College Suber had 30
points, 7 steals, and 4 rebounds. The Hawks rebounded on Saturday
with an 86-73 win over Me.-Farmington. Travis had 26 points 5
assists and 4 steals in the win.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jesus Trejo, Lesley University
(FR, C - Methuen, Mass.)
Jesus Trejo averaged 12.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg in a week in which he
helped Lesley go 2-1 against NAC opponents. His best game came in a
victory over Castleton State College where he finished with 18
points, 12 rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Sean Fry, Me.-Farmington
(SR, F - Jay, ME)
Fry led the Beavers to a 2-1 week with a pair of NAC wins over
Johnson State and Castleton. Against Castleton, Fry tallied his
1,000th career points in a 24-point, 13-rebound performance.
Against Johnson, Fry scored a team-high 18 points. Fry also posted
a double-double in a loss to Tufts with 11 points and 10 boards.

Andrew Dean, Me.-Farmington
(FR, G - Gorham, ME)
Dean helped the Beavers to a 2-1 week, including NAC wins over
Johnson State and Castleton. Against Castleton, Dean threw in 11
points, including three 3-pointers, with seven assists. Against
Johnson, Dean scored nine points with four assists and five
rebounds. In a loss to Tufts, Dean tallied nine points with six
assists.

CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Travis Suber, Becker College
(Jr. G – Springfield, Mass.)
Suber averaged 28 points, 3 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 4.5 assists
last week as Becker went 2-1 picking up two conference wins over
Castleton and Johnson State. In a 95-78 win over Castleton, Suber
had 25 points and 7 assists. In a thrilling 99-96 upset over
Johnson State the junior guard had a season high 36 points
including two clutch free throws with 9 seconds left for a 97-96
lead then stole the ball and dunked it at the buzzer to ensure the
victory.
Charlie Viana, Johnson State
College
(Sr. G/F – Valley Stream, N.Y.)
Charlie Viana pushed Johnson State to a 1-2 week by averaging 29
points, 5.7 rebounds while shooting 59% from the field and 71%
(10-14) from the 3 point line. The week was highlighted with a
career-best 42-point effort at Elms College on 15-22 shooting and
4-4 from the 3-poiint arc.

Trey Jacobs, Becker College
(Fr. C – Lexington Park, MD)
Jacobs averaged 22.3 points and 10 rebounds as the Hawks went 2-1
including conference games. Jacobs had his first collegiate double
double Friday night against Castleton when he hit for a career high
34 points (16-for-21) and 10 rebounds. On Saturday afternoon in a
thrilling 99-96 win over Johnson State, the freshman had 26 points
and 9 rebounds.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Richard Reilly, Castleton State
College
(Sr., Guard - Manassas, VA)
Reilly led the Spartans to the championship in the Vermont State
Colleges Tournament this past weekend. The senior point guard
averaged 19 points, 6.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds over the two
games. Reilly shot 54% (13-24) from the field and 57% (4-7) from
beyond the 3-point arc in earning the Most Valuable Player award in
the tournament.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Andrew Duncanson, Thomas College
(Jr., Gurad - Portland, Maine)
Andrew Duncanson combined for a total of 47 points, 10 assists and
shot 51.2% from the field at the Jim Beaudry Classic on the campus
of UNE in Biddeford, Maine over this past weekend. Please note that
Andrew made a 19ft. jumper at the buzzer against Wesleyan to force
overtime. 58-66(OT)loss to Wesleyan and 102-72 win over UMPI.
Duncanson was selected to the All-Tournament for his stellar
performance. He currently leads the team in season totals with ppg
(18.5) and assists 35 for the season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Josh Howe, Castleton State College
(Jr., Guard - Randolph, VT)
Howe led Castleton to a pair of non-conference wins with strong
play on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. The
junior guard averaged 24.5 points, 4 rebounds and 2.5 steals over
the two games. Howe shot 59% (17-29) from the floor and torched the
nets from beyond the arc at a 67% (10-15) clip.
Sean Fry, Me.-Farmington
(SR, F - Jay, ME)
Fry scored a career-high 35 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the
Beavers' 83-73 win over conference foe Husson in Bangor on Monday.
Fry's total -- the highest individual mark since 2002 for a UMF
player -- include five 3-pointers. Fry also scored 12 points in a
58-48 loss to USM Friday.

Dean helped the Beavers to an 83-73 win over conference foe Husson
with 11 points, six rebounds and three assists. Dean also had five
points and three boards in a 58-48 loss to USM.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Juan Galdon, Elms College

Galdon averaged 23.5 points on a sizzling 17 of 23 shooting from
the field, including 8 of 9 from 3-point range in just 19.0 minutes
per game to help the Blazers to a perfect 2-0 week. He netted a
team-high 16 points on 5 of 7 shooting in just 18 minutes to lead
the Blazers to a 105-67 win over Southern Vermont last Thursday.
Galdon then poured in a game-high 31 points on a scorching 12 of 16
shooting from the field, including 7 of 8 from beyond the arc in
Elms College's conference-opening 108-77 win over Wheelock on
Saturday afternoon.

Juan Alverio, Elms College
(Fr., C - Toa Baja, Puerto Rico)
Alverio averaged 12.5, 6.0 rebounds 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals to
help lead the Blazers to a perfect 2-0 week, including a 17-point,
six-rebound effort in Elms College's 108-77 conference win over
Wheelock last Saturday.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Travis Suber, Becker College
(JR, G - Springfield, MA)
Suber averaged 27 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals last
week as Becker went 2-0 to improve to 3-3 on the season. In a 76-68
win over Anna Maria College, Suber had 25 points on 8-for-15
shooting from the field, a season high 12 rebounds and 4 steals.
Against Regis College the junior had a season high 29 points on
11-for-18 shooting (.611), 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the 88-74
win.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Alex Thayer, Wheelock
(Freshman, forward - Seekonk, MA)
Thayer averaged 18 points and 12.7 rebounds in three contest for
the Wildcats. The Freshman led Wheelock to its first ever victory
over Eastern Nazarene with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Thayer
followed that with 19 points and 6 rebounds in a buzzer beater loss
to Mount Ida and finished his week up with a monster 20 point, 18
rebound performance versus Salem State.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sean Fry, Me.-Farmington
(SR, F - Jay, ME)
Fry powered the University of Maine at Farmington to a 64-61 win
over in-state rival St. Joseph's on Monday with 26 points and 10
rebounds. Fry hit a pair of 3-pointers and was 8 for 10 from the
foul line in the win.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jesus Trejo, Lesley University
(FR, C - Methuen, Mass.)
Trejo had another solid week for the Lynx as he averaged 16.0 ppg,
62.1 FG%, 10.7 rebound/g, and had four blocks in three games.
Lesley went 2-1 in those games including a historic victory over
UMass Boston. Trejo's best game came in that exact game scoring 24
points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Travis Suber, Becker College
(JR, G - Springfield, MA)
Suber averaged 22.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds in his first
two games in a Hawks Uniform. In the season opener vs. Worcester
State College in the Worcester County Classic Suber finished with a
game-high 21 points, including an 11 for 16 showing at the foul
line, seven rebounds and five assists for Becker who lost 82-72.
The junior scored a game-high 24 points to go along with nine
assists and six rebounds to lead the Becker men’s basketball
team to an 82-79 victory over host Nichols in the consolation game.
Travis was named to the All-Tournament Team.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jesus Trejo, Lesley University
(FR, C - Methuen, Mass.)
In his first game in a Lynx uniform, freshman center Jesus Trejo
worked hard for a double-double getting 15 points and 13 rebounds
against highly ranked Keene State. He also blocked three shots. He
followed up that performance by scoring 17 points, grabbing 8
boards, and blocking three more shots. Lesley will look to the 6'8"
freshman all season long to provide quality offense and defense.
