NAC Softball Weekly Honors

Husson's Kayla Merrill PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Kayla Merrill, Husson
(So, UT - Bethel, Maine)

Kayla Merrill, also the 2014 NAC Softball Player of the Year, earned Tournament MVP after leading Husson through a six-game championship to repeat as North Atlantic Conference Softball Champions for the sixth-straight season. Merrill did it all for the Eagles this weekend. She pitched 18.1 innings posting an ERA of 2.29, allowing six earned runs, while striking out 15. On offense she batted .333 (7-for-21) with a double, two triples, and a homerun while scoring four runs and driving in five. After the Eagles fell to Castleton on Saturday afternoon and survived a Sunday morning elimination game against Lyndon State, Merrill stepped up and pitched the Eagles through two come-from-behind victories to defeat Castleton and claim the championship.
