Husson's Smith Named to NFCA New England Region Second Team

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced the 360 players chosen for the 2018 NFCA Division III All-Region softball teams. Husson junior Olivia Smith (Calais, Maine) was named to the New England Region Second Team.

Smith hit .469 (53-113) with five home runs, 13 doubles, two triples, six stolen bases, and 30 RBI in 33 games. Smith was named the ECAC and NAC player of the week on April 10th. The Calais, Maine native lead the conference in batting average, runs batted in, doubles, and home runs, and ranks second in runs and hits.

As in the past, the squad is comprised of three 15-player teams in each of the country's eight NCAA regions.

All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight Division III regions. First team All-Region choices are eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America team, which will be announced the evening of May 23 online at NFCA.org and in person at the NCAA Division III Championship banquet in Oklahoma City.
