NAC Weekly Honors (8/26/19 - 9/1/19)

 

Men's and Women's Cross Country honors will be released on Tuesdays throughout the season. Men's Golf honors begin Monday, September 9.

 

MEN'S SOCCER

Player of the Week

Dalton Moore, Maine Maritime
Senior, F - Hollis Center, Maine

Moore scored the equalizer in the 71st minute of the Mariners' season-opening draw with University of New England on Friday night. The senior forward was an offensive threat throughout, taking five shots and landing three on net.

  

 

 


 Defensive Player of the Week

Dawson Pellerin, SUNY Canton
Sophomore, GK - Plattsburgh, New York

Pellerin registered a pair of clean sheets to lead the Roos to an unbeaten weekend as the team went 1-0-1. He made two saves in a 1-0 win at Wells on Friday, and followed that up by stopping all four shots he faced in a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Elmira on Sunday, including one near the end of regulation, and another in overtime. This marks the first time the Roos men's soccer program has been unbeaten through their opening two games since they started the 2014 season 3-0.

 
 

 


Rookie of the Week

Aibek Allan Bijanov, Northern Vermont-Johnson
First-year, M/D - Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Bijanov came off the bench and played four different positions for the Badgers, and scored in each game of the NVU Invitational. First, he tied the opening game against Fisher in the middle of the second half, in what was an eventual 2-1 loss. Bijanov also scored a goal in a 4-0 win against Vermont Tech.

 

 

 

 

 

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Player of the Week

Alexa DuBois, SUNY Delhi
Junior, M - South Kortright, New York

DuBois scored the game-tying goal in a 2-2 draw at Alfred State on Friday to open the season. Her offensive prowess continued through the weekend, and the midfielder notched her second goal of the season, and added an assist, in a 6-1 win over SUNY Poly on Sunday. Dubois starts the season with five points.

 


Defensive Player of the Week

Hanlon Crane, SUNY Canton
First-year, M - Red Hook, New York

Crane registered her first career assist on the lone goal of season-opener to lead the Roos to a 1-0 road win at Wells College. The midfielder helped to lead a defense that held the Express to just one shot, and no shots on goal, over 90 minutes of action. The win is the first season-opening victory for the program since they started the 2015 season unbeaten at 2-0-2. 



Rookie of the Week

Micayla Slattery, SUNY Delhi
First-year, F/M - Averill Park, New York

Slattery opened her collegiate career with offensive power. She first assisted a game-tying goal at Alfred State on Friday, then followed up with a goal and an assist versus SUNY Poly on Sunday, for a four-point weekend. She had four shots, three were on goal, and two found the net.

 

 

 

 

 


WOMEN'S TENNIS

Player of the Week

Hannah Malinen, Husson
Sophomore - Middletown, Pennsylvania

Malinen stole the lone win in singles action in the Eagles season-opener at UMass Boston. She came from behind and forced Meaghan Moriarty to three sets in a 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory at the #3 position. Malinen also paired up with teammate Natalie Tilton in first doubles. The pair battled to a hard-fought 8-6 defeat.

 

 


Rookie of the Week

Summer Lamphrey, Lesley
First-year - Webster, Massachusetts


Lamphrey won #3 doubles, 8-0, with partner Joselyn Martinez, in the season-opener against Albertus Magnus. She went on to clinch the match with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at #4 singles. The Lynx won the tilt, 6-3.

 

 

 

 

VOLLEYBALL

Player of the Week

Sydney Adams, Maine Maritime
Senior, S - Trumbull, Connecticut

Adams lead the Mariners to a 2-1 record against a trio of tough non-conference opponents and became Maine Maritime Academy's all-time assist leader over the weekend. Overall, Adams averaged 9.6 assists per set, 1.81 kills per set, 1.81 digs per set. She tallied 30 assists, nine kills, seven digs, three aces and a block in a hard fought 3-1 loss to Southern Maine on Friday. The setter followed that up with 28 assists, seven kills, four digs and a block in a 3-0 win over St. Joseph's College of Maine, and tallied an impressive 45 assists (the second best four-set match total in program history), nine digs, four kills, three aces and three blocks in the Mariners' 3-1 win against University of New England.

  


Defensive Player of the Week

Maria Perez, Maine Maritime
Senior, L - San Juan, Puerto Rico

Perez helped lead the Mariners to a 2-1 week, with victories against St. Joseph's College of Maine and University of New England, averaging 4.27 digs per set. Perez tallied 13 digs, two aces and an assist in the first game of the season, a 3-1 loss to Southern Maine on Friday. She followed that up with a pair of impressive performances to guide the Mariners to the Saturday sweep. The libero tallied nine digs and three assists in the 3-0 win against the Monks, and 25 digs, five assists, and an ace in the 3-1 win over New England.

 

 


Rookie of the Week

Marie Julian, SUNY Delhi
(First-year, OH/OPP - Voorheesville, New York

Julian helped SUNY Delhi open the season with two three-set match victories including a 3-0 win against King's (NY), and 3-0 win over Yeshiva. In just six sets, Julian notched 11 kills (1.83 k/s), six digs, and two assists. She also scored 16 points with five aces, for an average of .83 aces and 2.7 points per set.
