NAC Weekly Honors (9/2/19 - 9/8/19)

 

MEN'S GOLF

Player of the Week

Eric Dugas, Husson
Junior - Pittsfield, Maine


After shooting a 78 on the first day of the Bowdoin Invitational, Dugas pulled ahead of all 75 competitors on Day 2, shooting par for a gross score of 150 and the first medalist honors in his career as an Eagle. His first-place effort was two strokes ahead of the second-place golfer. The junior helped Husson jump from tenth place after Day 1, to second place overall.

 

  

 


Rookie of the Week

Cade Charron, Husson
First-year - Topsham, Maine


In his first collegiate competition, Charron finished in a six-way tie for 20th place at the two-day Bowdoin Invitational with a 160 (81-79). He carded the second-best score for Husson to help the Eagles jump from tenth-place after Day 1, to second-place overall.

 

 

 

MEN'S SOCCER 

Player of the Week

Matt Caron, Maine Maritime
Senior, F - Scarborough, Maine

Caron helped lead the Mariners to a 2-0 week and the Maritime Cup with victories over Mass Maritime and SUNY Maritime. In the Mariners' come-from-behind win against Mass Maritime, Caron scored on a penalty kick to spark the comeback, and then tallied the game-winner, while also dishing out an assist. In the Mariners' 2-0 win over SUNY Maritime, Caron earned the assist on the insurance goal.

 

 

 

 


Defensive Player of the Week

Dawson Pellerin, SUNY Canton
Sophomore, GK - Plattsburgh, New York

Pellerin stopped seven shots to lead the Roos to a 1-1 double-overtime draw versus SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday. The draw is the first point for SUNY Canton against the Bears in school history, having lost one-goal games the past four seasons. The goal given up by Pellerin is the first goal he has conceded in 310 minutes of action this season, and it came via a penalty kick. SUNY Canton is unbeaten through four games for the first time in at least the last 10 seasons.

 

 

 

 


Rookie of the Week

Pieter Oudejans, Maine Maritime
First-year, M - Rockledge, Florida

Oudejans was impressive in the Mariners' 2-0 week. The first-year midfielder tallied the game-tying goal in the Mariners' 4-3 comeback thriller on Friday, and followed that up with the game-winner in the 2-0 win over SUNY Maritime on Sunday, to help the team win the Maritime Cup.

 

 

 

 

 

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Player of the Week

Eryn Doiron, Maine Maritime
Senior, M - Wilton, Maine

Doiron led the Mariners in a 2-1 week, landing nine shots on net and tallying six goals and an assist. In the Mariners' 5-0 shutout win over Mass. Maritime, Doiron tied the program's single-game record with four goals. She also scored two goals, one on a penalty kick, and logged an assist in the 8-0 rout of SUNY Maritime.

 

   

 


Defensive Player of the Week

Callie Hammer, UMaine-Farmington
Junior, GK - Ellsworth, Maine

Hammer tended the net for 180 busy minutes over two games this weekend. Hammer made 26 saves on 31 shots for an .839 save percentage. She came up with 15 saves against Plymouth State, and made 11 stops against Southern Maine.

 

 

 

 


Rookie of the Week

Alexis Rodriguez, UMaine-Presque Isle
First-year, M - Caribou, Maine

Rodriguez lead the Owls to their first 2-0 start since the 2013 season, with two goals and an assist in a 5-0 victory over Fisher College.  She also recorded an assist in the Owls 4-1 season opening win against Vermont Tech, for a week totaling six points in two games.

 

 

 

 

WOMEN'S TENNIS

Player of the Week

 

Jocelyn Bell, Husson
Senior - Holden, Maine


Helping secure two back-to-back NAC shutouts this weekend, Bell competed at #6 single and #3 double against SUNY Delhi and MCLA. She gave up just one point between the two singles matches. Bell defeated SUNY Delhi, 6-0, 6-1, on Saturday morning, then took down MCLA, 6-0, 6-0, on Sunday morning. Paired with fellow senior Marisa Brown in doubles, the duo grabbed two victories on the weekend, both 8-1.

 

 

 


Rookie of the Week

Magan Williams, Thomas College
First-year - Oakland, Maine


Williams went 3-1 overall, in the top doubles pair and at #2 singles, in the NAC opening weekend. She was 2-0 at second-singles, with a come from behind 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 win against MCLA, and a dominate 6-0, 6-1 win against SUNY Delhi. She also picked up a doubles win with partner Alexis Nestor, taking the #1 match, 8-5, against SUNY Delhi.

 

 

 

 

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Player of the Week

Rachel Melampy, Maine Maritime
Sophomore, OH - Marshfield, Massachusetts

Melampy tallied a pair of double-doubles to lead the Mariners to a 2-0 week. The sophomore totaled 39 kills (5.57 k/s), 24 digs (3.43 d/s), three aces, and three blocks. In the team's 3-1 win over WPI, Melampy tallied 22 kills, 12 digs, two blocks and an ace, and followed that up with 17 kills, 12 digs, two aces and a block in the 3-0 win over USM.

 

 

 

 


Defensive Player of the Week

Hanna Hembrow, Husson
Senior, S - Milford, New Hampshire


Hembrow led the Eagles to a 2-2 week in which Husson picked up their first win over Saint Joseph's College (Maine), 3-1, since the 2008 season. In the victory over the Monks, Hembrow logged 14 digs, 14 assists, and eight blocks. In all four matches, the senior accumulated 16 kills (1.07 k/s), achieved a .295 attack percentage, set up 90 assists, scooped 29 digs, and served eight aces.

 

  


 

Rookie of the Week

Ashton Houppert, SUNY Canton
First-year, S - Lowville, New York

Houppert averaged 2.69 assists and 2.00 digs per set over four matches last weekend. She posted a season-high 17 assists in a loss to SUNY Poly and tallied her first double-double with 12 assists and 11 digs in a setback against Rochester. Houppert set up 43 points and tallied 32 digs, 7.5 points, five kills, two aces, and a block during the week.
