Husson Earns Inaugural NAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Title
NEW LONDON, N.H. – Colby-Sawyer College hosted the North Atlantic Conference's (NAC) inaugural Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship, which featured four varsity programs.
In a very competitive meet, Husson University squeaked by the hosts by half of a point. The Eagles scored 91.5 points, while Colby-Sawyer finished in second with 91 points. New England College finished in third and Green Mountain placed fourth.

After the championship Husson head coach Kate Goupee was voted NAC Coach of the Year.
Each event winner was honored as a 2015 NAC champion:
Colby-Sawyer Kate LaPorte took top honors in the 100 meter dash in a time of 13.15.
Booke Hopple got Husson a quick 10 points by winning the 200 meter dash (26.96) and the 400 meter dash (59.90).
Abby Shafer of New England College won two events for the Pilgrims. She took the top spot in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:19.56 and followed by winning the 1500 meter run by seven seconds in 4:54.14.
Colby-Sawyer received first place finishes in the 5000 meter run and 400 meter hurdles. Kylee Parker took top honors by nearly a minute in the 5000 with a time of 20:15.28. Heather Faasse won a tightly contested 400 hurdles by .02 seconds. She crossed the finish in 1:11.80.
In the 100 meter hurdles, Husson's Kerianne Downing edged teammate Erin Bolduc to take first place in 16.87. Alecia Palmer then cruised to a win in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:01.32.
Husson's Katherine Thibault, Brooke Hoople, Erin Bolduc, and Megan Darcy won the 4x100 relay, while Colby-Sawyer's Paige O'Malley, Emily Lopez, Courtney Figucia, and Heather Faasse took first in the 4x400.
The Chargers and Eagles continued to keep the meet close as each side would have winners from the jumps and throws events.
Colby-Sawyer's Emily Lopez (1.54m) won the high jump, while Emmani Robinson (12.51m) took the top spot in the shot put. Rachel Quaye came away with a pair of wins in the discus (34.55m) and the javelin (37.93m).
Husson received victories from Megan Darcy (2.59m) in the pole vault and Erin Ellison (43.28m) in the hammer. Casey Modery had a tremendous day in the long jump and triple jump, winning both events. She had a distance of 4.89 meters in the long jump and followed with a 10.08m mark in the triple.
Five other women's teams competed as clubs. Castleton took first place with 66 points, followed by UMaine-Farmington (53), Thomas (14), Johnson (8) and Lyndon (7). For complete club results - click HERE.
The NAC also awarded a men's invitational champion which included three varsity and four club teams. Colby-Sawyer took first with 103 points, followed by Thomas (28), UMaine-Farmington (19), New England College (19), Green Mountain (18), Castleton (13), and Johnson State (6).
