Colby-Sawyer Claims 2016 NAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship
Colby-Sawyer College won its first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship on a cold and rainy Sunday at the Sally Shaw Veitch Track & Field. This year's championship featured six varsity programs and a pair of club teams.
Picked as the preseason favorite, Colby-Sawyer did not disappoint and won the meet with 216 points. Husson, last year's champion, finished as runner-up with 186 points. UMaine-Farmington placed third (78), followed by Castleton (76), New England College (14) and Johnson State (8).

Each event winner was honored as a 2016 NAC champion:
Castleton's Sierra Ostrow-Remy won the 100 meter dash with a finals time of 13.26. Spartan teammate Brielle DeBaise took the top spot in the discus at 35.44m.
Husson's Brooke Hopple won the 200 meter dash for the second-straight season with a time of 27.43. Kerianne Downing also won for the second-straight season in the 100 meter hurdles. She clocked in at 17.27. The Eagles won the other hurdles event as well with Paige Rainford crossing the finish more than two seconds ahead of second place at 1:10.61.
Amanda Martin took home her first championship in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:02.65 to give Colby-Sawyer 10 points. Emily Lopez came away with wins in the 800 meter with a school record time of 2:21.76. Lopez also took the top spot in the high jump (1.53m). Kylee Parker took top honors in the 1500 meter (5:04.15) and the 5000 meter (19:29.19).
New England College received a first place finish from Erica Notini in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 12:07.62.
Husson's Brooke Hoople, Hannah Clough, Casey Modery and Joan Overmann won the 4x100 relay, while Hoople and Clough teamed with Lara Sarett and Paige Rainford to win the 4x400 relay.
The Eagles of Husson continued to collect first place finishes in the jump events. Jaclyn MacDonald won the pole vault (2.60m), while Modery came away with a victory in the long jump (5.01m) and triple jump (10.46m).
Erin Ellison won the hammer to add to the Eagles' win total by taking top honors in the hammer at 46.22m.
Colby-Sawyer's Emmani Robinson won the shot put for the second-straight year with a toss of 12.48m, while Charger teammate Rachel Quaye was the victor in the javelin for the second time at 36.95m.
Lyndon and Thomas competed as club teams and did not score.
