Defensive Player of the Week

Brett Roy, Northern Vermont University-Lyndon
Junior / Newport, Vermont

NVU-Lyndon’s Brett Roy made a season high 14 saves, many of them in acrobatic fashion, in Lyndon’s 1-0 win over UMaine-Presque Isle on Saturday. The win was NVU-Lyndon’s first NAC victory since September 2018. Roy stopped a potentially game-tying penalty kick by UMPI, and made several other stops at point-blank range. His tally of 14 saves is the highest by any NAC goalkeeper in a win this season. Roy’s performance in a game where Lyndon was outshot 44-4 also allowed him to top 100 saves for the season. He leads the conference in saves and saves per game, and is among the national leaders in both categories. As of October 20, 2022, Roy was ranked fourth in saves per game for Division III.
