SUNY Delhi Clinches 2022 NAC Men's Tennis Championship

DELHI, NY –The Broncos won the 2022 NAC Men's Championship on their home court in a 6-3 decision against the Thomas Terriers.

The teams matched up for the third weekend in a row, splitting two regular season matches and swapping 6-3 wins. Each team entered the championship with only one conference loss - to each other.

The Broncos got out to an early advantage with victories at number one and three doubles. They entered the singles portion of the match with the lead for the first time in three matchups.

In the singles competition, Jarod Rackliffe continued his unbeaten streak in the NAC, making it two years without a loss winning with scores of 6-1, 6-2.  In the number two singles slot, Thomas College's  Gabe McPhail took the victory over Delhi's Christopher Balogh by the same scores.

The next match to finish was the number four singles where Delhi's Ryoto Yoshinaga won 6-4, 6-0 over Thomas College's Rajhan Munnings.  This set up a potentially decisive match at number three singles which also proved to be the only matchup to go three sets.  Liam Gould of Thomas College was facing off with Tyler Kemble of SUNY Delhi and took the first set 7-6 in a tiebreak.  However, Kemble battled back to take set two 6-3 and set three 6-1 to seal the victory for the Broncos.

Thomas and Delhi split the remaining two matches at number five and six singles. Terrier Kegan Rodrigue won at number five singles 6-1, 7-6, and Delhi's Daniel Distasio won at number six singles 6-0, 6-3.
