Husson Eagles Win Fourth Consecutive NAC Softball Championship

Bangor, Maine - Thomas struck early in the final game of the 2022 NAC Softball Championship tournament, but Husson pulled away to win their fourth conference championship in a row, and 11th overall.

Kelsey Currier singled in the lead-off spot for the Terriers in the first inning. She advanced on a single by Maddie Rock and scored on a throwing error. All three outs of the stanza were McKenna Smith K's.

Both teams left runners on base through several scoreless half-innings before Julia Gregoire singled. Jess Pomerleau came in as a pinch runner and advanced to second on a passed ball. She moved to third on a sac bunt by Katie Raymond and scored on a bunt from Teagan Blackie to tie the game at 1-1.

Blackie stole second and moved to third on a single by Madelyn Fowler. Fowler took second base uncontested then advanced to third and Blackie scored on an RBI single to left from Kiara McLeod, putting the Eagles up 2-1 for their first lead of the game. Katie Windsor reached on a bunt single to score Fowler. Whitney Bess dropped a bunt in front of the plate to load the bases then McLeod scored on a sac fly from Kenzie Dore. The score after four innings was 4-1 in favor of Husson.

The Terriers had a chance in the sixth inning when Bailey Dunphy reached base, stole second on a napping infield, then advanced to third on a throwing error. However, she would be left on base.

Tournament MVP McKenna Smith struck out the side to end the seventh inning and the game. She had 13 strikeouts in the three-hit, complete game showing.
