Osucha, Doten, Bodo & Russo Headline NAC Women's Tennis All-Conference Selections
WATERVILLE, Maine – The 2024 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women’s tennis postseason accolades have been announced and recently crowned NAC Champion Lesley University is well-represented among the list of honorees.
Lesley sophomore Mary Osucha (Knoxville, Tenn.) headlines the list of Lesley’s honorees, as she has been selected as the NAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year while claiming All-Conference Singles and All-Conference Doubles honors. Fourth-year Head Coach Jessica Russo also earned a major honor as she was named as the NAC Coach of the Year for the second-consecutive season.
SUNY Delhi freshman Hallee Bodo (Delancey, N.Y.) is the 2024 NAC Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Year and Husson University graduate Emily Doten (Pembroke, Maine) has collected Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year accolades.
Osucha, the 2024 NAC Women’s Tennis Championship Most Valuable Player, takes home Player of the Year as well as Singles and Doubles All-Conference awards after posting an impressive 12-1 record in No. 1 singles along with a 11-2 mark with teammate Lucy Boyce (Marshfield, Mass.) in doubles play. In two collegiate seasons, Osucha owns an impressive 22-3 record in both singles and doubles action.
Russo secured NAC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year honors for the second year in a row after guiding the Lynx to the program’s first-ever NAC Championship this fall. Under her watch, Lesley posted a 9-4 overall record with a perfect 5-0 mark against conference opponents en route to claiming the top seed in the NAC tournament. The Lynx posted a six-match winning streak this season and capped the campaign having won seven of their final eight contests, including a decisive 6-3 NAC Championship victory over second-seeded Husson University on October 13th.
Bodo earns 2024 NAC Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Year and All-Conference Singles acclaim after posting a 6-4 record in solo action and a 7-3 mark in doubles play during her first NCAA season. She was also named to the 2024 NAC All-Tournament Team and was the NAC Rookie of the Week on September 16th and the NAC Player of the Week on September 30th.
Doten, who also earned All-Conference Singles honors, claims the coveted NAC Women’s Tennis Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year honor after notching a 6-2 record in No. 2 singles play and a 7-1 mark in doubles action this fall. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Husson, Doten graduated in 2024 with a 3.97 GPA and a Bachelor’s in Health Science as Salutatorian. She was on the President’s List all four years and was inducted into the Rho Chi Society – an organization that seeks to advance pharmacy through sustained intellectual leadership and recognizes outstanding scholarly achievement.
Joining Osucha, Bodo, and Doten on the Singles All-Conference team are Husson junior Julia Barber (South China, Maine) and graduate Caroline Champa (Boston, Mass.) and junior Jessica Legendre (Leesville, La.) from Lesley.
Earning All-Conference Doubles honors were Lesley’s pairings of Legendre and Champa and Osucha and Boyce as well as Husson’s Barber and Anah Albert (Fort Kent, Maine). Legendre and Champa posted a perfect 7-0 record together while the duo of Barber and Albert went 5-4 this season. Osucha and Boyce won 11 of 13 doubles matches this season.
Six student-athletes were also named to the NAC Women’s Tennis Sportsmanship Team for consistently demonstrating the tenets of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These honorees positively influenced the tennis culture and match environment by exemplifying integrity beyond the rules and etiquette of the game.
