NAC Weekly Honors Announced (11/25/24)
WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) weekly honors have been released and five players hailing from three institutions have earned accolades.
Women’s Basketball
Player of the Week:
Logan Thayne – Senior – Forward – SUNY Cobleskill
Senior post player Logan Thayne (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) claims her third NAC Player of the Week honor in as many reporting periods after averaging 21.0 points, 13.7 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 1.7 assists while shooting 44.4% (24-54) from the floor and 58.9% (10-17) from three-point range in a 2-1 week for the Fighting Tigers. She posted a double-double in all three games, including a dominant 25-point, 21-rebound performance in a 65-56 triumph at Baruch College on Saturday after netting 21 with 10 caroms, five assists, three blocks, and two steals in a 78-59 victory over VTSU Castleton on Tuesday. Thayne also scored 17 points and grabbed 10 boards in a hard-fought setback at #15 Gettysburg College on Friday and was 5-for-5 from the FT line in the three games combined.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Bella Terry – Junior – Center – Lesley University
Junior center Bella Terry (El Cajon, Calif.) averaged 14.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals in a 1-1 week for the Lynx last week. In a difficult loss to New England College on Wednesday, Terry netted 16 points with 12 boards, three blocks, and one steal. She helped Lesley defeat Bard College, 47-44, by recording 13 points, 11 caroms, five rejections, and three steals on Saturday.
Rookie of the Week:
Pryelle Kesse-Beda – Freshman – Forward – Thomas College
Freshman forward Pryelle Kesse-Beda (Temecula, Calif.) averaged 7.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 42.9% (6-14) from the floor in a pair of Thomas College losses last week. She notched her first collegiate double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds (5 offensive) in just 17 minutes at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.
Men’s Basketball
Player & Rookie of the Week:
Tavon Rhodes – Freshman – Guard – Lesley University
Freshman guard Tavon Rhodes (Dorchester, Mass.) averaged 21.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals while shooting 57.1% (24-42) from the field and 52.9% (9-17) from downtown in three games for Lesley University last week. He poured in 31 points in a narrow loss to Rivier University on Thursday and is the first Lesley men’s basketball player to net 30 points in a game since 2021.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Malachi Howard – Junior – Forward – Lesley University
Junior forward Malachi Howard (Winter Haven, Fla.) averaged 15.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 0.7 blocks in three contests last week. He notched his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 boards in a hard-fought setback at the hands of Rivier University on Thursday.
