2024 NAC Men's Soccer Postseason Honors Unveiled
WATERVILLE, Maine – The 2024 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men’s Soccer postseason accolades have been released. The list of honors includes Senior Scholar Athlete, Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coaching Staff of the Year, First Team All-Conference for the East and West Divisions, a Second Team for the East Division, and an Honorable Mention side that includes players from both divisions.
Each season, the NAC names a Sportsmanship Team, with one honoree per institution nominated by their head coach. This recognition goes to individuals who demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship, positively impacting the culture of men’s soccer with integrity beyond the game’s requirements.
The 2024 NAC Men’s Soccer Senior Scholar Athlete is Maine Maritime Academy defender Elijah Yeaton (Farmington, Maine). A five-year member (NCAA COVID Waiver) and two-year team captain for the Mariners, Yeaton will graduate summa cum laude with a 3.84 cumulative GPA, having earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Systems Engineering with minors in Mathematics and Naval Architecture. Upon graduation, he will receive his United States Coast Guard 3rd Assistant Engineer and Fundamentals of Engineering licenses and plans to pursue a career in the maritime industry.
On the pitch, Yeaton started and played in all 16 of the team’s matches this fall, logging 1,252 of a possible 1,440 minutes while manning the backline for the Mariners. In 61 career games, Yeaton has scored one goal with four assists for six points and started 49 contests.
Thomas College senior forward Joshua Joseph (Devonshire, Bermuda) has been named the NAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Year for the second consecutive season after tallying 17 goals and 13 assists for 47 total points during the 2024 campaign. As of October 31st, the senior standout ranks second in NCAA DIII Men’s Soccer in assists per game (0.86) and points per game (3.00), fifth in goals per game (1.07), and seventh in both total assists and total points.
In 61 career games as a four-year starter, Joseph has scored 45 goals – including 10 game-winners – with 27 assists for a total of 117 points. Among all active NCAA DIII Men’s Soccer players, he ranks ninth in points per game (1.90) and assists per game (0.44), 14th in total points, and 16th in goals, goals per game (0.73), and assists. Joseph is also one of just 12 active NCAA DIII players – and the only one from a New England institution – to have recorded at least 25 goals and 25 assists during their career.
The 2024 NAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Year is Maine Maritime Academy junior center back Ronnie Morgan (Goffstown, N.H.). The October 1st NAC Defensive Player of the Week honoree has been a steady force on the backline for the Mariners, playing nearly every minute this season (1,415 of the team’s 1,440 minutes). Morgan leads his team in playing time, averaging 88.4 minutes per game, and also scored four goals with three assists this fall.
An impact player on both sides of the ball, Morgan possesses the rare combination of physical and athletic ability, ball skills, and intelligence, allowing him to impact the game in a variety of ways on both ends of the field.
Thomas College freshman goalkeeper Jamie Fischer (Bolton, Mass.) was a near-unanimous choice for the 2024 NAC Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Year award. The three-time NAC Defensive Player of the Week posted a 1.07 goals-against average while playing – and starting – in 15 games, with a 10-1-4 record and three shutouts this fall. Fischer made 77 saves and allowed only 16 goals, with a NAC-best .828 save percentage, while amassing 1,346 minutes in net during his first collegiate campaign.
The 2024 NAC Men’s Soccer Coaching Staff of the Year goes to Thomas College, which heads into the NAC Championship game this Saturday versus SUNY Delhi with a 12-1-4 overall record, including an 8-0-2 mark in conference play. Led by third-year head coach Kyle Fletcher, along with assistant coaches Jim Evans and Kiaran McCormack, the Terriers are riding a 15-game undefeated streak and rank 12th in NCAA DIII Men’s Soccer with an .833 winning percentage.
