Maine Maritime and SUNY Cobleskill secure top seeds to host NAC Women’s Basketball Tournament divisional rounds
WATERVILLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy and SUNY Cobleskill’s unblemished divisional records landed their programs as the number 1 seeds in the North Atlantic Conference’s East and West Divisions and will host the first two rounds of the 2024 NAC Women’s Basketball Tournament on February 16-17, 2024.
The top four teams in each division qualify for the NAC Championship tournament. Quarterfinals and semifinals will occur divisionally, at the site of each division’s #1 seed. Pairings for the quarterfinal round are #1 versus #4, and #2 versus #3 in each division. The #1 seed may choose to play the first or second first-round game.
Maine Maritime, the defending NAC Champions, finished with a flawless 12-0 East Division record and will host #4 seed Thomas College in Friday’s first East divisional quarterfinal matchup. East #2 seed Husson University will battle #3 seed UMaine-Presque Isle in the second East divisional quarterfinal game in Castine, Maine.
For the West Division, SUNY Cobleskill also finished with a perfect record after concluding their regular season with a 10-0 West Division record. The Fighting Tigers will host west #4 SUNY Morrisville in Friday’s first quarterfinal matchup in Iorio Gymnasium. Making the trip to Cobleskill, New York will be West #2 seed SUNY Canton and they will face off against #3 seed Eastern Nazarene in the second West quarterfinal game Friday.
Quarterfinal winners in each division will meet in the divisional semifinals on Saturday, February 17, at 2:00 p.m.
The divisional winners will meet for the championship game on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the site of the East Division Winner. The NAC Champion will move on to play in the 2024 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship.
