Husson women’s swimming leads NAC teams with second-place finish at METS Championships
PISCATAWAY, New Jersey – Husson University finished second out of 11 scoring teams in the results of the 2024 Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming & Diving Championships (METS), which concluded Sunday at the Rutgers University Werblin Aquatic Center.
The Metro Collegiate Championship meet served as the 2024 North Atlantic Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship, which will be scored separately with results announced this week.
Husson garnered 814 points in the final METS standings, trailing the winning team from Felician University. Felician tallied 1249 points. Maine Maritime was third in the overall METS results with 771.5 points.
Husson University swimmers posted the top NAC result in four of the five individual swimming events in Sunday’s final day of competition. Erin Madden posted an eighth-place result in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:27.55, and Rachel Hand finished fifth in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 55.29 seconds.
The Eagles’ Grace Rocheleau charted a time of 2:49.59 in the 200 Breaststroke, and Husson’s Kayla Payson claimed fourth place in the 200 Butterfly with a mark of 2:18.78.
Gordon College’s Katherine Maloney took fourth place in the 1650 Freestyle with a time of 19:33.93.
Maine Maritime’s Natasha Kopeck placed second in the women’s one-meter diving competition, posting a score of 387.30 points.
Finally, in the women’s 400 Free Relay, the Husson quartet of Payson, Mia Winslow, Madden, and Hand turned in the top NAC result with a time of 3:54.28, good enough for fifth place.
