Women’s Basketball All-NAC Awards Announced

WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference announced its 2023-24 Women’s Basketball All-NAC Awards, with SUNY Cobleskill’s Logan Thayne headlining with Player of the Year honors. Bailey Donovan, Husson University, claimed the Defensive Player of the Year title, while Sierra Pabo of SUNY Canton earned the Rookie of the Year award.
 
Head Coach Craig Dagan of Maine Maritime Academy was tabbed for Coach of the Year honors.
 
UMaine-Farmington’s Jaycie Stevens was voted Senior Scholar Athlete.
 
Thayne averaged 16.7 points per game and 10.7 rebounds across just 22 minutes per game in 24 match-ups. She posted a 54.9 shooting percentage (152-of-277), was 31.7 from the three-point line and shot 79.2% from the free throw line. Thayne is fourth among league leaders in scoring and ranks fifth in rebounding. She tallied 16 double-doubles to rank 11th on the NCAA Division III leaderboard and is currently 22nd in offensive rebounds with 4.4 per game. Thayne also ranks 28th nationally in blocks with 54. Throughout the regular season, Thayne was recognized as the NAC Player of the Week twice and grabbed the NAC Defensive Player of the Week title once.
 
Donovan finished second in the league with 17.6 points per game and 13.7 rebounds. She led the league with a 60.8 field goal percentage and an 84.6 free throw percentage. Additionally, Donovan ranked second in the league with 1.8 blocks per game, while also breaking the program record for blocks in a career with over 220. Donovan racked up 18 double-doubles on the year, including eight 20-point games and three 30-point efforts. Donovan also broke the single-game record with 26 rebounds against the University of Maine-Presque Isle and had 43 blocks and 36 steals on the season. She dished out 47 assists and was named NAC Defensive Player of the Week and Player of the Week numerous times. Donovan also was tabbed Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week twice. 
 
Donovan was named NAC Player of the Year the last two seasons. She was also voted Defensive Player of the year in 2022-23 and the league’s Rookie of the Year in 2019-20.
 
Pabo completed her rookie season as a seven-time NAC Rookie of the Week honoree in 2023-24. She ranked fourth in the conference in field goal percentage at 42.5% and fifth in scoring with 429 points, averaging 15.9 points per game. Pabo currently sits at seventh in the NAC in minutes played per game at 32.4 and is 12th amongst NAC leaders from the three-point line with 41. Pabo also found the NAC leaderboard in assists per game and is ranked 16th with 2.7.
 
Dagan is in his 23rd year as head coach at Maine Maritime Academy. Dagan led the Mariners to the 2022-23 NAC title, with sights set on defending the crown after defeating Husson in the 2023-24 East Division semifinal in overtime. The award is Dagan’s fourth Coach of the Year honor (2005, 2022, 2023, 2024).
 
Stevens played in 24 games during the 2023-24 season for the Beavers, averaging 27.8 minutes per game. Stevens has excelled on and off the court, maintaining a 3.98 GPA and showcasing an affinity for community engagement efforts. Stevens is the president of the UMF Health Club, was honored as the UMF Community Health Education Student of the Year in 2023, and is a member of the Eta Signma Gamma Honor Society. Stevens is also an active participant in the UMF Free the T-Project, a student-led initiative that aims to provide free tampons to UMF students, and is currently interning for the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Chronic Disease Division.
 
In addition to the top conference awards, 15 student-athletes were named to the All-Conference First, Second and Third Teams.
 
13 student-athletes were named to the NAC Women’s Basketball Sportsmanship team. The Sportsmanship Team is reserved for those who distinguish themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees have positively affected the sport culture and game environment by clearly demonstrating sportsmanship and integrity beyond playing rules and etiquette.
