Softball announces 2024 All-Conference teams

WATERVILLE, Maine – Husson University came away with four major 2024 softball awards as Kenzie Dore was named North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, as well as Senior Scholar Athlete, and Ana Lang earned both Co-Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors. Trinity Critelli of SUNY Poly was also named Co-Pitcher of the Year.
 
UMaine-Farmington’s head coach Alyssa Williamson was tabbed for Coach of the Year honors, as voted by her NAC peers.
 
Husson University softball senior Dore put together one of the best seasons in Husson softball program history batting .527 with 29 hits, eight doubles, one triple and a team-high four homeruns. Dore tallied 30 RBIs, 22 runs scored and 10 walks. In conference, Dore batted .545 with 19 hits, 15 runs scored, five doubles, three homeruns, 22 RBIs and seven walks. Dore finished fifth in the NAC with a .545 average and three homeruns. Additionally, Dore helped the Eagles finish the regular season on a 27-game winning streak and broke the career record for RBIs. Husson is currently ranked no.1 in Region I in the most recent posting of NCAA Division III Softball regional rankings with games played through May12, 2024.
 
Off the field, Dore graduated in May with a 4.0 GPA with a bachelor's of science in criminal justice and master's degree in criminal justice administration and a 3.97 graduate GPA. Dore has a concentration in national/corporate security, minor in military science and leadership and was the college of business and school of legal studies award of excellence winner. Dore was valedictorian of her senior class and the only two-time academic All-American in athletics’ history. Dore is also a three-year ROTC national scholarship awardee and has been a member of the Maine Army National Guard since 2020. Dore has been involved with various softball camps, clinics, and local programs and has volunteered within the community. Additionally, Dore is a team captain an Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete and a multi-year all-conference selection.
 
Husson University first-year Ana Lang had a great start to her collegiate softball career finishing 16-2 overall with a 1.18 ERA in 100.2 innings pitched. Lang recorded 10 complete games, three shutouts and 156 strikeouts while limiting opponents to a .196 average. In conference Lang recorded a 6-0 record with a .26 ERA, 48 strikeouts, two complete games and a .105 opponent average. Lang finished second in the NAC with a .26 ERA, a .105 batting average and 48 strikeouts.
 
Critelli was lights out on the mound for the Wildcats‚ finishing the season with a 1.57 ERA, and racking up a conference leading 102 strikeouts (188 overall)‚ striking out 26 batters looking (50 overall), another category she ranked a top of in the conference. During the season, Critelli made history, becoming SUNY Poly Softball's all-time strikeout leader (518). Critelli held conference opposing batters to a .131 batting average, while also finishing the season with the second most wins in the conference at 14 overall and nine in conference play. In conference play, Critelli completed the regular season undefeated with an 9-0 record, while also pitching six shutouts and ending her campaign second nationally in strikeouts per seven innings.
 
Williamson wrapped up her third season at the helm of the UMaine-Farmington softball program. Williamson led the Beavers to a 18-9 overall regular season record, the most wins in a season since 2009. With an impressive 10-2 record in conference play, UMF finished the no. 2 seed in the East Division standings and earned a bid into the NAC Softball Tournament for the first time since 2019. This is her first NAC Coach of the Year honors. 
 
In addition to the top conference awards, 48 student-athletes were named to the All-Conference teams, and 13 were named to the NAC Softball Sportsmanship Team. The Sportsmanship Team is reserved for those who distinguish themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees have positively affected the sport’s culture and game environment by clearly demonstrating sportsmanship and integrity beyond playing rules and etiquette.
