Thomas College captures back-to-back men's tennis titles
Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College Terriers (No. 1) and SUNY Delhi Broncos (No. 2) faced off in the Men’s Tennis NAC Championship on Saturday, May 4
at Thomas College. The Terriers walked away victorious with a 5-0 win, earning their fourth program championship and second consecutive title. Graduate Student Liam Gould would go on to be awarded Most Valuable Player for the championship match.
Doubles:
In No. 1 Doubles, Thomas College’s Liam Gould and Gabe McPhail faced off SUNY Delhi’s Benjamin Andersen and Moises Saintil. Gould and McPhail would win the set 8-2.
Seb Soto and Calvin Cutler of Thomas College would play SUNY Delhi’s Devin Guerrieri and Hannah Shafer in No. 2 Doubles, the set would end 8-3 in the Terriers' favor.
No. 3 Doubles would consist of the Terriers' Nick Magiera and Caleb Daigneault and the Broncos' Jack Madera and J.T. Maccarrone. Magiera and Daigneault would win the final doubles set 8-1.
Singles:
The Terriers would clinch the match 5-0 after victory sets in No. 1 and No. 5 singles.
In No. 1 Singles, McPhail (Thomas) faced off against Anderson (Delhi), with McPhail winning the first set 6-3 then sweeping 6-0 in set 2 to capture the win.
In No. 5 Singles, Thomas College’s Kegan Rodrigue would play Shafer from SUNY Delhi. Rodrigue would win in two sets, 6-4 then 6-1.
