WATERVILLE, Maine – Lesley’s Jessica Legendre and Simmons’ Emilie Lapointe named Co-Players of the Year as the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) announces the 2025 Women’s Tennis postseason awards. The Terriers’ Gigi Bhagat earns Rookie of the Year honors while the coaching ranks of Lesley and Husson were chosen as Co-Coaching Staffs of the Year. Legendre was also selected as the women’s tennis Senior Scholar Athlete.

Legendre, a senior from Leesville, Louisiana, earns her second Player of the Year honors (2023) and finds herself on First Team All-Conference Singles and Doubles for the third time. In conference action, she finished with a perfect 4-0 record in both singles and doubles against conference opponents Husson, Thomas, Simmons, and SUNY Delhi. She competed all season at No. 1 doubles and played No. 2 singles for majority of the season as well. Overall, she is 8-1 in both singles and doubles for the Lynx, where her only loss on the year was a non-conference matchup against UMass Boston. In addition to her All-Conference awards, Legendre was named to the 2025 NAC Women’s Tennis Championship All-Tournament Team. Over her four-year career at Lesley, Legendre held an impressive 45-6-3 singles record and went 44-9-1 in doubles.

The Shark’s Lapointe (Clinton, Mass.) collects her first Player of the Year accolades in addition to earning First Team All-Conference Singles and Doubles. This is Lapointe’s third year in row earning All-Conference honors after being named to the GNAC First Team in Singles and Doubles in 2024 prior to joining the NAC in women’s tennis. She was also tabbed GNAC Rookie of the Year and First Team Singles in 2023. She finished conference play with an unblemished 5-0 record in singles, switching between No. 1 and No. 2 singles, Lapointe went 3-0 at the No. 1 position in both doubles and singles against conference foes Thomas, Husson, and Lesley. Overall, Lapointe was 11-1 in singles (4-0 No. 1 / 7-1 No. 2) with non-conference wins over Roger Williams, Clark, and Bridgewater State. Her overall doubles record was 8-2. Lapointe also found herself on the 2025 All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Sharks to their first NAC women’s tennis title in a 5-2 victory over Husson.

Bhagat was named 2025 NAC Rookie of the Year and All-Conference First Team Singles and Second Team Doubles after posting a 5-1 record in both solo and No. 2 doubles action during her first NCAA season. The Pueblo, Colorado native finished 2-1 in No. 2 singles and 3-0 in the third position. Overall, she displayed a near perfect 11-1 singles record and went 9-2 doubles. She also earned 2025 NAC All-Tournament Team honors for the Terriers.

In addition to her Co-Player of the Year honors, Legendre was recognized as this year’s distinguished women’s tennis Senior Scholar Athlete. Legendre has excelled on and off the court during her four years at Lesley. The senior Animation and Motion Media major holds a 3.8 GPA and has earned Deans list every semester at Lesley as well as Academic All- District Team honors. She works with a professional studio through Lesley where her work is used on major streaming platforms. In addition, Legendre is very involved on campus including serving as an admissions ambassador, creating the Lesley University Literary Magazine that highlights the Lesley student experience, and serving on SAAC. Athletically she has been served as captain the last two seasons, is at the top of the Lynx lineup all four years, and never lost more than 1-2 times per season.

Lesley Head Coach Jessica Russo secures her third Coach of the Year honors leading the Lynx to a 4-2 conference and 6-8 overall record. The Lynx also earned a spot in the 2025 tournament as the No. 4 seed.

Husson Head Coach Josh Warren earns his fifth postseason honors as him and his Assistant Coaches Nevil Williams and Cindi Howard were recognized as Co-Coaching Staffs of the Year. Serving as the head coach for the Eagles since their inaugural season in 2015, Warren and his staff lead Husson into the 2025 NAC tournament as the No. 2 seed and a 5-1 conference and 9-3 overall record.

In addition to All-Conference Singles and Doubles Honors, seven student-athletes were also named to the NAC Women’s Tennis Sportsmanship Team for consistently demonstrating the tenets of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These honorees positively influenced the tennis culture and match environment by exemplifying integrity beyond the rules and etiquette of the game.
