Mariners' shutout Terriers and move on to NAC semifinals

CASTINE, Maine – No. 3 Mariners shutout No. 6 Thomas 3-0 in Wednesday night’s first-round matchup, moving on to the next round of the North Atlantic Conference women’s soccer tournament.

Charlotte Manes found the back of the net in the 31st minute of the first-round match, assisted by Hadley Stoddard, to put Maine Maritime up 1-0. Shortly after, Abby Wong gave the Mariners the 2-0 edge before heading into the second half.

The Mariners’ Sophia Hernandez was able to find Wong again in the final minutes of the game as she scored the final goal of the game. Wong finished the night with two goals, four points, and had five of her 11 shots on goal. In total, Maine Maritime had a .765 shooting percentage, shooting 13-for-27 on goal.

The Mariners’ backline was able to hold the Terriers to just one shot on goal and zero goals. Thomas’ goalkeeper Emily Rock recorded nine saves while Maine Maritime’s Isa Thesing secured one save to complete the shutout victory.

Maine Maritime will now take on No. 2 seed Husson University in the semifinals on Saturday, November 1, 2025. The time of the semifinal game will be announced shortly.
