NAC Announces Men's Soccer Postseason Awards

WATERVILLE, Maine – The 2025 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men’s Soccer postseason accolades have been released. The list of honors includes Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Senior Scholar Athlete, Coaching Staff of the Year, First Team, Second Team, and Third Team All-Conference.

Each season, the NAC names a Sportsmanship Team, with one honoree per institution nominated by their head coach. This recognition goes to individuals who demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship, positively impacting the culture of men’s soccer with integrity beyond the game’s requirements.

David Ivarsson of Thomas was voted the Player of the Year by the conference’s head coaches. Salvator Meloni of SUNY Delhi was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year and newcomer Shafi Ibrahim of Thomas College received the Rookie of the Year honors. Maine Maritime Academy’s Ronnie Morgan earned Senior Scholar Athlete accolades while SUNY Delhi was voted the Coaching Staff of the Year by their NAC peers.

Ivarsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) started in all nine conference regular season games and tallied 10 goals, eight assists, 28 points, two game-winning goals, and a .622 shots on goal percentage. Overall, he recorded 15 goals and 12 assists for 42 total points in the regular season. He led the NAC in conference statistics categories for shots, shots on goal, assists, points, and is tied for first with total conference goals and game-winning goals. He is currently ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division III men’s soccer in assists per game (.83), No. 2 in total assists, No. 3 in points per game, and No. 5 in total points.

A four-time NAC Player of the Week, Ivarsson has consistently elevated Thomas College’s attack with his blend of technical precision, creativity, and competitive drive. In addition to his Player of the Year accolades, Ivarsson was also recognized on First-Team All-Conference and the 2025 NAC Men’s Soccer All-Tournament Team.

Meloni (Ridge, N.Y.) sits at the top of three categories for individual goalkeeping categories in both conference and overall statistic. He is first in goals against average (.17 conf/.97 overall), saves with a .947 conference save percentage (.814 overall), and in shutouts with four 5. In NAC play, he only allowed one goal. He notched a season-high 10 saves on October 12 in the Broncos 2-0 conference victory over Husson. He had a 9-3-3 overall record in goal and 7-0-1 in league play.

Ibrahim (Lewiston, Maine) concluded his debut season as the 2025 NAC Rookie of the Year, emerging as one of the key figures in Thomas College’s regular season campaign. In conference play, Ibrahim tallied 10 goals, six assists, 26 points, and four game-winning goals. In 19 regular season matches, Ibrahim totaled 15 goals and 7 assists for 37 points, leading all NAC first-years and ranking among the national leaders. In the NAC, he is tied for first in goals, tied for first in game-winning goals (5), and second in shots on goal (1.57 average).  He is second among first-years nationally in total points (15th overall) and goals (tied for 14th overall). Additionally, Ibrahim received NAC Player and Rookie of the Week honors two times on the season.

Morgan is a four-year member and three-year captain for the Mariners who will graduate Summa Cum Laude with a 3.92 cumulative GPA, and his Bachelor of Science in Power Engineering Technology. Upon Graduation Ronnie will receive his Fundamentals of Engineering Licenses and will begin his career in the Power Generation Industry with a focus in Nuclear Power. Morgan is a 3-time North Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team selection, and a member of the Mariners Athletics Elite-8; an honor bestowed upon the MMA male & female student-athletes with the highest GPA by graduation class. Additionally, he was honored as a 2024 CoSIDA Academic All-Region I selection and recognized as a 2024 CoSIDA Academic All-American First Team selection.

On the playing field Morgan started and played in all 15 games for the Mariners during the 2025 regular season, scoring the equalizing goal in the Mariners historic come-from-behind win over the University of Maine Fort Kent and started and played in 64 matches throughout his career. He scored 6 Goals & tallied 3 Assists for 15 career points and has become the Mariners all-time leader in Career Minutes played. In addition to his 2025 Senior Scholar Athlete Accolades, Morgan was named a 2022 North Atlantic Conference Third Team Selection, a 2024 North Atlantic Conference 1st Team Selection, and the 2024 North Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. This year he is a First-Year All-Conference Selection and earned a spot on the 2025 NAC Men’s Soccer All-Tournament Team.

Morgan has been a model teammate and representative of the Maine Maritime Academy Men’s Soccer program, Mariners Athletics, and the Maine Maritime Academy campus community. In addition to his leadership on field and in the classroom, he also serves as a Peer & Athletics Calculus & Physics Tutor for the Maine Maritime Academy Tutoring Center, a Physics and Calculus Teacher’s Assistant, as well as a Gameday and Equipment Operations student-employee and Camp Counselor for the Mariners Soccer College Experience Program.
The SUNY Delhi leadership of Head Coach Matthew Esposito and Assistant Coaches Ryan Jaquay and Jon Walch earned their first Coaching Staff of the Year honors sine Esposito took over for the program in 2024. The Broncos claimed their first NAC men’s soccer title after a thrilling 3-2 double overtime victory over defending champion Thomas College.
