CASTINE, Maine – Sam Nichol (Concord, N.H.) has been selected to represent Maine Maritime Academy in the 2025 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Senior North-South All-Star Game as a member of the North squad.
Nichol, a first-team All-Conference selection, led the Mariners to their fourth consecutive North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship game appearance and their third title in four years. The senior midfielder recorded 49 goals and nine assists for a total of 58 points this season.
He concludes an illustrious career in a Mariners uniform ranked second all-time in points (238), third in goals (163), fifth in assists (75), and second in man-up goals (29). A two-time team captain and four-time All-Conference honoree, Nichol was named the 2025 NAC Senior Scholar-Athlete, the 2023–24 and 2024–25 Mariners Athletics Male Leader of the Year, and the 2024–25 Mariners Athletics Senior Scholar-Athlete.
"Sam has been the heartbeat of our program," said head coach Brandon Melville. "His work ethic, leadership, and competitive drive set the standard for everyone around him. This honor is a fitting recognition of everything he's given to Maine Maritime lacrosse."
The annual game provides graduating seniors with one final opportunity to represent their schools on the lacrosse field while being recognized for their career contributions. Sixty players are selected from across all of Division III men's lacrosse to compete, with Nichol earning a spot on the North squad.
All players and coaches were nominated by their respective head coaches within the USILA and then ranked and selected by the association's coaching staffs. The game offers a unique chance for top players from across the country to compete at a high level.
This year's game will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 23, at Bayside Field on the campus of Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island.
