Mariners Defeat Eagles in NAC Semifinal, 28-12

CASTINE, Maine – Top-seeded Maine Maritime Academy (9-5) defeated #4 Husson University (8-8), 28-12, in a 2025 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men’s Lacrosse Tournament semifinal on Saturday afternoon at Ritchie Field.

With the victory, the Mariners advance to the NAC Championship game for the fourth straight season and will host the winner of the second semifinal between #2 SUNY Delhi and #3 Thomas College on Sunday at 3:00 PM.

The loss ends Husson’s 2025 campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Mariners struck quickly, as sophomore midfielder Bryce Crowell (Oakland, Maine) won the opening faceoff and senior attack Brendan Reddington (Meriden, Conn.) scored just 14 seconds in off a feed from Trey Marcil (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.).

The teams traded goals early, with freshman Tobey Lappin (South Portland, Maine) scoring at 13:32 and Husson junior Kiernan Field (Haymarket, Va.) netting a man-down goal shortly after to make it 2-1.

Maine Maritime responded with five unanswered goals—three of them from Lappin in a 2:20 span—to seize a 7-1 lead. The Mariners carried a 10-4 advantage into the second quarter and broke the game open with a dominant 6-0 frame, outshooting Husson 23-3 and pushing the lead to 16-4 at halftime. Marcil scored twice during the quarter.

Husson opened the third quarter with goals from Field and senior Nathan Vibber (Plaistow, N.H.) just 14 seconds apart, trimming the margin to 16-6. But the Mariners answered with eight straight goals to close the period, including two goals and three assists from Marcil, extending the lead to 24-6.

The Eagles outscored MMA 6-4 in the fourth quarter, with senior Sean Lyne (Brunswick, Maine) netting a hat trick to cap the game at 28-12.

Maine Maritime dominated statistically, leading in shots (83-29), shots on goal (59-20), ground balls (66-39), and face-off wins (30-11).

GOALIES:
The Mariners split time in net. Sophomore Andrew Noyes (Falmouth, Maine) made four saves and allowed four goals in the first half, while junior Will Farrell (Newcastle, Maine) added four stops and gave up eight goals in the second.
Husson junior Odin Burk (Hightstown, N.J.) played the full 60 minutes and recorded 31 saves along with two ground balls.
