Six Husson Eagles earn NFCA All-Region honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its all-region awards on Friday and Husson University softball had a record six players recognized. 

Graduate student Julia Gregoire was named named to the first team after earned North Atlantic Conference player of the year on Thursday after hitting a scorching .462 for the regular season and conference tournament. Gregoire recorded 49 hits, including nine doubles, four triples and two home runs, while also driving in 28 runs and drawing nine walks. Gregoire posted a .517 on-base percentage and also led the NAC in multiple batting categories, while being named NAC player of the week once during the season.

Senior Tori Exel also earned first team honors after picking up her second-straight all-conference honor after a stellar final campaign. Exel batted .382 with 42 hits, including eight doubles and two home runs, in addition to 14 RBIs and six walks. Exel was named NAC player of the week and MCBSA player of the week following the opening weekend of Husson's Spring Break trip.

Graduate student Sky Johnson was selected to the second team after being named NAC pitcher of the year following a dominant year in the circle. Johnson led the NAC in earned-run average (1.32), wins (14), complete-games (15), shutouts (6), innings pitched (117), strikeouts (128) and batting average against (.213). Additionally, Johnson recorded a .98 WHIP, while also allowing just three earned runs since the start of April and earning four-straight NAC pitcher of the week awards to end the regular season.

Sophomore Camryn King garnered second-team all-region honors and earned all-conference recognition for the first time in her young career, after a great year at the top of the Husson batting order. King registered a .375 batting average with 39 hits, including eight doubles and three home runs. Additionally, King also tallied 15 RBIs, 16 walks and a NAC-best 29 stolen bases.

Senior Bulla McCabe was recognized with third-team honors and earned her third-straight NAC all-conference selection following a career-year at the plate. McCabe registered a.352 average during the regular season and NAC tournament, posting 45 hits, including 14 doubles, two triples and four home runs, while also driving in a league-best 38 runs. McCabe was named NAC player of the week twice and Maine College Baseball and Softball Association player of the week once.

Sophomore Ana Lang was the final all-region selection, picking up third-team honors after earning NAC all-conference recognition for the Eagles after a stellar year in the circle. Lang, who was named NAC pitcher of the year as a freshman, picked up where she left off in year one, posting a 1.59 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, 107 strikeouts and a .234 batting average against in 13 starts and 15 appearances overall.
