Geneva, Ohio - The Johnson Badgers Outdoor Track and Field season officially came to a close Friday afternoon as Eli Wilson competed at the Division III National Championship meet in Geneva, Ohio. Entering the meet with a recent jump of 2.10m and a New England Regional title to his name, Wilson has led the Badgers in a historically successful season, entering the meet undefeated. Due to high winds, with gusts exceeding 30 mph, the vertical jump events were moved indoor Friday afternoon with a starting height of 1.95m. Wilson was one of only 13 to clear the opening height on his first attempt, following with a second successful mark of 2.00m (6' 6.75"). This would be enough to secure Second-Team All-American honors for the first-year Badger, as Wilson was one of 16 to clear the height, though was not one of the eight competitors to move beyond the mark.
Says Coach Ringwood, "What Eli has accomplished this season is nothing short of inspiring. He has taken what it means to be a Badger to another level, wearing with pride our team-focused and balanced approach, while holding himself to an personal standard that has culminated in our program's first All-American recognition. The amount of text messages, DMs, phone calls, etc. received this weekend from teammates, family members, and Johnson community is representative of the impact Eli has had on those within his orbit this year. I'm immensely proud of Eli and am equal parts grateful and excited for the next year to come."
