Player of the Week

Mia Gutierrez | UMaine-Presque Isle | Sophomore | Outside Hitter | Phoenix, Ariz.

Gutierrez helped lead the Owls to a doubleheader sweep of University of Maine at Fort Kent over the week. In the doubleheader, the sophomore who was chosen as one of UMaine-Presque Isle’s “NAC Players to Watch”, averaged 2.25 kills per set, totaling 18. Arizona native also garnered six service aces, 34 digs (4.25 DPS), two aces and a block, immediately showcasing her versatility and leadership as one of UMPI's top returning players.

Defensive Player of the Week

Maubi Mateo | UMaine-Presque Isle | First-Year | Defensive Specialist | Bronx, N.Y.

Mateo earned the start as a rookie at Libero and came through in a big way for UMaine-Presque Isle in her first college match. She anchored the Owls back row and made several key defensive saves. In their doubleheader sweep of UMaine-Fort Kent, Mateo earned 37 digs (4.63 DPS) and a reception percentage of .949 in addition to her five assists and two service aces on the week.

Rookie of the Week

Brooke Gardner | UMaine-Presque Isle | First-Year | Setter | Florissant, Colo.

Gardner led UMaine-Presque Isle’s robust class of first years in their doubleheader sweep of UMaine-Fort Kent on Tuesday to begin the year 2-0. The rookie setter racked up 50 total assists for the Owls across the two matched, 25 exactly in each match. She also accounted for 50 of the entire team's 60 assists and tallied six kills, eight aces, 17 digs and a pair of blocks for UMPI.
