Farmington advances to semifinals after dominating victory over VTSU Lyndon

FARMINGTON, Maine – The Farmington Beavers secured a spot in the NAC Women’s Basketball semifinals with a dominant 80–44 victory over Vermont State University Lyndon in Thursday night’s first-round matchup.

Jaydn Pingree tallied eight of her game-high 21 points in the first quarter and added seven more in the second. The Beavers’ defense held Lyndon to just nine points in the opening frame and 10 in the second quarter, giving Farmington a 33–19 advantage at halftime.

Farmington broke the game open in the third quarter, pouring in 32 points while shooting 15-for-21 from the field. Sarah Poli was a perfect 5-for-5 in the frame, scoring 10 of her 12 total points. Jessica Dow added six points, three steals, and four assists in the quarter, while Pingree and Kytana Williamson each chipped in six points. Melissa Mayo contributed four points during the surge.

The Beavers capitalized on Lyndon’s miscues throughout the night, scoring 34 points off turnovers. Lyndon’s strongest stretch came in the fourth quarter, when the Hornets scored 13 points and shot 54.5 percent from the field.

Pingree led the Beavers with 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Poli narrowly missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, adding two assists and two steals. Dow recorded a season-high eight assists to go along with 10 points and five steals. Ella Huntington and Kiara Mack each finished with eight points to pace the Hornets.

Farmington will make the short trip to Bangor to face No. 2 Husson University in a semifinal matchup on Sunday, February 22 at 3:30 p.m.
