No. 5 SUNY Cobleskill 49, No. 4 Thomas College 36
WATERVILLE, Maine – No. 5 SUNY Cobleskill stunned No. 4 seed Thomas College, 49–36, to advance to the semifinals of the 2026 NAC Women’s Basketball Championship.
After going 0–2 against the Terriers during the regular season, Cobleskill flipped the script when it mattered most, delivering a strong defensive performance to secure the postseason victory.
Cobleskill came out aggressive, building a 16–6 lead in the first quarter behind Kyara Triblet, who scored eight of her team-high 16 points in the opening frame. Thomas chipped away in the second quarter, trimming the deficit to 20–18 at halftime thanks to a balanced scoring effort from Brooklyn Calder, Holly Loring, Emily Hagerty, and Elena Alderman. The Terriers used a 12–4 run to close the half and tighten the contest.
Cobleskill regained control in the third quarter, but Thomas continued to battle back. Pryelle Kesse-Beda tied the game twice in the period — once in the opening minute and again at the 2:24 mark. After each equalizer, Cobleskill responded. Colon converted two free throws to reclaim the lead, and jumpers from Zaylee Ramos and Triblet helped the Fighting Tigers carry a 35–32 advantage into the final quarter.
Thomas briefly regained momentum early in the fourth, as Kay McLellan and Maria Tomova combined for four points to give the Terriers their first lead since the opening minute of the game. However, Cobleskill took over from there, closing the contest on a dominant 14–0 run to secure the victory.
Defensively, Cobleskill forced 24 turnovers and converted those miscues into 16 points. The Fighting Tigers also held Thomas’ leading scorer, Pryelle Kesse-Beda — who averages 15.5 points per game — to just nine points.
Cobleskill will now travel to face top-seeded Maine Maritime on Sunday, February 22 (1:00 PM), in a semifinal matchup that serves as a rematch of the 2024 and 2025 NAC Women’s Basketball Championship games, where the two programs previously met.
