Game 1: #4 UMaine-Farmington d. #5 SUNY Delhi 8-3
Adrienne Neff got things started as she singled for the Broncos and later advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Cayla Moroni before scoring off an error by the Beavers. Down one run didn’t faze Farmington as they answered with four runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead. Both Melissa Mayo and Emily Collins reached on singles up the middle and moved into scoring position following a sacrifice bunt. Jessica Dow reached on a walk and with one out, Maddie Pike delivered a two-run RBI single to center to put the Beavers on the scoreboard. Lisa Truchin followed with a single through the right side to give Farmington a two-run lead. Bella Miller later reached on a hit-by-pitch and Angelina Ventullo capped the inning with an RBI single to give Farmington a 4-1 advantage heading into the second inning.
Delhi cut the deficit to two in the top of the second as Grace Sperry showed patience at the plate, drawing a walk on a full count. Sperry later scored on an RBI double from Angelina Dickel.
After a scoreless third inning, Farmington’s offense came alive again in the bottom of the fourth with another four-run frame. Reilly Russell reached on a walk before Mayo got aboard on a fielder’s choice and later advanced on a throwing error by the Broncos. Collins reached base again with a single and stole second to put two runners in scoring position. Dow came through in her second at bat with a two-run RBI single to score Mayo and Collins. Pike later walked and Dow crossed the plate in the next at bat as Truchin recorded another RBI single to extend the lead to 7-2. Miller reached on another hit-by-pitch and the Beavers added one more run as Ventullo drew a walk to score Pike for an 8-2 lead.
With no runs scored in the fifth or sixth innings, the Broncos attempted a rally in the seventh as Stephanie Huckabee recorded an RBI single to score Neff, but Delhi could only cut the deficit by one as Farmington secured the 8-3 victory. Truchin would get the win in the circle for Farmington, throwing a complete game, striking out three batters, and only allowing two earned runs.
UMaine-Farmington will take on top seed Husson in game 3 of the tournament.
