Game 2: #6 UMaine-Presque Isle d. #3 SUNY Cobleskill 5-2 (9 Innings)
No. 6 seed UMaine-Presque Isle upset No. 3 SUNY Cobleskill, 5-2, in nine innings to advance to game four of the 2026 NAC Softball Tournament.

In the top of the first inning, the Owls struck first as Hailey Saylor singled to left field and later advanced to third following a single by Gracelyn Walsh. Keira Greene then delivered a sacrifice fly to bring Saylor home and give UMPI a 1-0 lead.

Cobleskill answered in the second inning when Taegyn Hart hit an RBI double to score Gabriella Wendelken, who had reached on a walk, evening the score at 1-1. The Tigers took the lead in the fourth after Wendelken reached on an Owls fielding error and advanced to third on singles from Brielle Dixon and Baylee Yandow. Sammy Fausti followed with an RBI fielder’s choice to put Cobleskill ahead, 2-1.

The Owls responded in the sixth as Walsh launched a solo home run to center field, tying the game at 2-2 and eventually forcing extra innings.

After a scoreless eighth, UMaine-Presque Isle broke through in the ninth. Walsh continued her strong day at the plate with a leadoff double before Megan Buchholz followed with an RBI double to regain the lead for the Owls. Buchholz later scored on an RBI single from Abby Doughtry, who eventually crossed home plate on a wild pitch to extend the advantage to 5-2.

Cobleskill threatened in the bottom half of the inning as Julia Barrieau drew a walk and Fausti added a single to left field. However, with the tying run on base and two outs, the Owls defense recorded the final out to secure the upset victory.

Walsh recorded the 5-2 extra inning victory for UMPI in the circle, pitching all nine innings and tallying seven hits, one earned run, three strikeouts, and three walks.

UMaine-Presque Isle will take on #2 Thomas in game 4 of the tournament.
