Game 4: #2 Thomas d. #4 UMaine-Presque Isle 10-8
The Terriers battled back from a 7-3 deficit in the fourth inning, going on a 7-1 run to earn a 10-8 victory and advance to the winner’s bracket of the 2026 NAC Softball Tournament.

UMaine-Presque Isle’s Hailey Saylor and Zoe Stewart opened the top of the first with back-to-back doubles, as Stewart’s RBI double scored Saylor to give the Owls an early lead just two batters into the game. Gracelyn Walsh followed with a single, and Keira Greene loaded the bases after drawing a 4-0 walk. Abby Doughty then delivered a two-run single, scoring Walsh and Stewart to push UMPI ahead 3-0 at the end of the first.

Thomas answered right back in the bottom of the inning, scoring three runs on three hits to tie the game. Megan Oberholzer singled to right field, with Maddy Morris reaching base on a fielding error and advancing as a result of the play. Morris later scored from second on an RBI double by Maeve Hickok, which also moved Oberholzer to third. Mackenzie Toner, who went a perfect 4-for-4 in the game, followed with an RBI single to center field to bring home Oberholzer and advance Hickok into scoring position. Hickok later scored on Jennie Whitten’s sacrifice fly to complete the rally.

In the top of the second, Saylor sparked another rally, singling to left field before stealing two bases to reach third. She then scored on an RBI single up the middle by Megan Buchholz, giving the Owls the lead back at 4-3.

The Owls added to their advantage in the third inning, plating three more runs as Stewart launched a three-run home run to extend UMaine-Presque Isle’s lead to 7-3.
The Terriers’ bats came alive in the fourth and fifth innings as they went on a 6-1 run, scoring six runs over the two frames with three runs in each inning on two hits apiece, taking advantage of UMPI defensive errors.

The Owls answered with runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to pull within one, as Thomas held a 9-8 lead entering the sixth. The Terriers added an insurance run in the sixth on a hit by Abby Farone, with additional bases gained via defensive miscues and a wild pitch.

Down by two heading into the final frame, Terrier pitcher Brooke Smith struck out two Owls batters as Thomas closed the door, allowing no hits or runs to complete the comeback victory.
