BANGOR, Maine – No. 2 seed SUNY Cobleskill advances to the winner’s bracket of the 2026 North Atlantic Conference Baseball Tournament with a 16-11 victory over No. 3 Thomas College in game two of the double-elimination tournament.

The Tigers will face top seed Husson University Friday, May 8 at 11:00 am, the winner will advance to the championship game slated for Saturday, May 9 at 1:00 pm. The loser will turnaround and play the winner of game three between Thomas and VTSU Lyndon at 2:00 pm.

Thomas and Cobleskill combined for an offensive showcase, as both teams recorded double-digit hit totals. Cobleskill finished with 20 hits, while Thomas tallied 14. The Tigers scored in every inning except the eighth.

Cobleskill wasted little time getting on the board, plating three runs in the first inning. Tony Woodie delivered a two-run double to left field, scoring Jeffrey Gutierrez, who singled, and Jake Brazzano, who reached on a walk. Woodie later came around to score on an RBI single to center by Logan Firment.

The Terriers found themselves on the board and only one run behind the Tigers as Gus Hollen and Gavin Clark, who both singled, scored off an Evan Nadeau two-run RBI single to center.
Thomas answered with a 6-3 run across the third and fourth innings to even the score heading into the fifth. In the third, DJ Cagnina and Ajay Rychcik each doubled before Gavin Clark ripped a triple to right-center field, scoring both runners to cut the deficit to 5-4.

The Terriers continued their rally in the fourth, showing patience at the plate with six walks. Thomas scored four runs in the inning on just one hit — a single by Cagnina — while capitalizing on free passes to take a two-run lead.

Cobleskill responded in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at 8-8. Ryan Lansing and Woodie reached on singles to the left side before Logan Firment reached on a fielder’s choice, allowing Lansing to score on a Thomas throwing error. Firment later crossed home plate on an RBI single by Zach Papanikolatos. Woodie then powered the Tigers out of the 8-8 deadlock in the bottom of the fourth, blasting a grand slam to give Cobleskill a 12-8 lead.

Thomas chipped away at the deficit in the following innings, using doubles from Cagnina, Rychcik, and Jeremy Spencer to bring runs home and pull within one heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Cobleskill tallied a run in the bottom of the frame to regain a two-run cushion before pulling away from Thomas with three more runs in the seventh inning. The Tigers extended their advantage to five and held the Terriers scoreless for the remainder of the game, earning a 16-11 victory and advancing to Friday’s slate of the tournament with a 1-0 record.
