BANGOR, Maine – The No. 5 seed Broncos win and advance to game eight of the 2026 NAC Softball Tournament as Delhi defeats No. 6 UMaine-Presque Isle 7-6 in game six (game two, day two) of the double elimination tournament, improving to 1-1 in the tournament.

Delhi will now play against No. 3 seed SUNY Cobleskill in game eight at 3:00 PM.

After a scoreless opening inning, UMaine-Presque Isle struck first in the second. Abby Doughty led off the frame with a walk before stealing second base. Madison Boynton later reached on a Delhi throwing error, allowing Doughty to advance and eventually score on an Avery Vonkadich sacrifice fly to left field, giving the Owls a 1-0 lead.

Presque Isle extended its advantage to 3-0 in the third inning when Gracelyn Walsh launched a two-run home run to left field, scoring Zoe Stewart, who opened the inning with a single. Walsh also got the start in the circle for the Owls and held the Broncos hitless through the first two innings.

Delhi found its rhythm offensively over the next three innings, erupting for seven runs. In the bottom of the third, Andrienne Neff, Cayla Moroni, and Stephanie Huckabee opened the inning with three consecutive hits. Huckabee’s double plated both Moroni and Neff to cut into the deficit. Angelina Dickel and the Delhi defense held the Owls to zero hits in the fourth and fifth innings.

The Broncos added five more runs over the following two innings despite recording only two hits, capitalizing on Presque Isle miscues while drawing two walks and producing multiple sacrifice flies. Carolina Watson highlighted the stretch with an RBI double, while Neff added an RBI single as Delhi built a 7-3 advantage.

UMaine-Presque Isle attempted to rally in the sixth inning as Abby Doughty once again sparked the offense with a leadoff single up the middle. Briana Perez followed by drawing a 4-0 walk, and after a Delhi throwing error, Doughty came around to score to trim the Broncos’ lead to 7-4.

The Owls continued to battle in the final frame. Stewart and Walsh opened the inning with back-to-back doubles, with Stewart scoring on Walsh’s hit to cut the deficit to two runs. Keira Greene later grounded out to shortstop, advancing Walsh to third before Megan Buchholz brought her home with a sacrifice fly. Doughty then reached base once again with a single, representing the tying run. However, the Owls’ comeback effort came up short as Delhi recorded the game’s final out on a fielder’s choice at second base.

UMaine-Presque Isle closes out the 2026 season with a 16-20 overall record.
