AMHERST, Mass. – The New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) recently announced the 54 student athletes selected to compete in the annual East-West Senior All Star Game on Friday, May 31st. Two student athletes were selected from the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). Brandon Hunter was selected to the West team, and Matt Martin was selected to the East squad.
Hunter, a senior defender at Northern Vermont-Lyndon, is believed to be the first Hornet to be selected to play in the game. He was a four-year starter for the Hornets and a two-time NAC All-Conference selection. This past season, he recorded 56 ground balls and a team-best 30 caused turnovers.
Martin finished his career at Husson University ranked first in team history in saves (514), second in wins (14) and saves per game (12.24), and sixth in save percentage (.552). He earned his second-straight NAC All-Conference honor after posting a 14.33 goals-against average with 128 saves and a .525 save percentage during his senior season.
All players and coaches participating in the All Star Game were nominated by head coaches within the NEILA. Players were then ranked and selected by a committee, rewarding seniors from all three NCAA Divisions who played their college careers in the New England region. This all-star game, which includes players from Divisions 1, 2, and 3, is the only one of its kind.
The game will take place at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I. Face-off is at 6:00 PM.

The NEILA East-West game also gives assistant coaches from some of the top programs each year the opportunity to take the reins as the coaching staffs of each team. The coaches are also nominated by the head coaches who are members of the NEILA. It is a great opportunity for assistants to add their flare on the game. This year, the West will be coached by Devin Callahan (Eastern Connecticut State), Connor Eschmann (Western New England), Will Roberts (Clark) and Mike Wilus (Plymouth State). The East will be head manned by Rob Murray (Emmanuel), Jon Horgan (Saint Joseph's ME) and Jack Wilson (Curry).
