Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honors

  PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 Jesse Morkeski, Thomas College
(So., G - Damariscotta, Maine)
Terriers sophomore goalie Jesses Morkeski made 26 saves in the Terriers non-conference 10-6 loss to Regis on Thursday. Morkeski had a .722 save percentage against the Pride. Morkeski saved 95 percent of the shots he saw in the NAC semi-final game against Farmington on Saturday. Morkeski made 19 saves and gave up one goal in his 55 minutes of play in the Terriers 14-3 victory. Morkeski currently leads the NAC with 247 saves and is third with a save percent of .584.

(Fr., Mid. - Westbrook, Maine)
Morse scored one goal and dished out three assists in the Terriers 10-6 loss to Regis on Thursday. Morse finished the week with a four goal performance in the NAC Semi-Final win against Farmington on Saturday.

Craig MacDerment, Castleton
(Sr., Midfield - Clifton Park, N.Y.)
In a pair of blowout wins over Green Mountain and Lyndon State, MacDerment controlled possession for the Spartans. The senior midfielder won 38-of-40 (.950) face-offs, including a perfect 18-for-18 versus Lyndon, to catapult him into the top-5 nationally in face-off win percentage (.715). MacDerment also corralled an 35 ground balls to push his average to 8.5 per game, ranking among the top-10 nationally. The senior also got into the scoring action, posting a goal and two assists.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Mike Smith, Green Mountain College
(Fr., A - Georgetown, MA)
Smith tallied four goals and two assists in a thrilling 10-9 double-overtime victory over Johnson State College Saturday, tallying the game-tying goal with just 25 seconds remaining in the fourth. Two of Smith's goals came in man-up situations while a third he notched down a man. The freshman finished the season with 17 goals and three assists.

Keiley collected 18 points in MMA's three wins this week including 12 goals and 6 assists. Keiley was on the mark all week taking 29 shots with 25 of them being on target.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Alex Green, Castleton
(Fr., Attack - Braintree, Vt.)
Green erupted for nine goals and four assists in a 2-1 week for the Spartans. In Saturday's win over Thomas, Green posted career-highs in points (7), goals (4) and assists (3). The freshman attack followed that performance up with four goals and an assist against Farmington, and also gathered a career-best 11 ground balls.

Nohea King, Castleton
(So., Attack - St. Albans, Vt.)
King led Castleton to a 2-1 week, including a 2-0 mark in conference play. The sophomore attackman scored 10 goals and handed out one assist. King had a huge weekend for the Spartans, scoring three goals and the game-winner in Saturday's 10-9 win at Husson. He followed that up with a five-goal performance, including three-straight to open the third period, in Sunday's 11-10 overtime win at Maine Maritime.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Matt Quesada , Thomas College
(Fr., Attack - Coram, N.Y)
Quesada recorded six goals and dished out two assists this weekend for the Terriers. Quesada scored two goals and had two assists, including the game tying goal with two seconds remaining on the clock to force overtime against Lyndon. Quesada found the back of the goal four time against Johnson State on Sunday in the Terriers 18-5 win.

Max Ercole, Lyndon
(Junior, Attack - St. Johnsbury, Vermont)
Ercole had six goals Saturday to lead Lyndon to its first win of the season - a 16-6 victory over Green Mountain College at the Golden Goal Sports Park in Fort Ann, N.Y. Ercole collected three goals in the first quarter to propel the Hornets to a 6-1 advantage and tallied two more in the second quarter as Lyndon took a 12-2 lead into halftime. Ercole closed out his scoring spree with a goal at the 12:55 mark of the fourth quarter.

Green led the Spartans to a 2-0 week, scoring seven goals and handing out three assists in wins over Norwich and Johnson State. The freshman attackman provided four goals and three assists in Castleton's 12-4 win over Norwich, and scored three goals in his NAC debut on Saturday, helping Castleton to a 16-0 win over Johnson State.

Hooper was a force in net in the Eagles' win over St. Joseph's college, stopping 84.2% of the shots the Monks put on net. Hopper saved 16 to lead the Eagles to victory 14-3.

Peters scored seven goals and handed out an assist as the Beavers opened their season with a 2-1 week. The freshman took advantage of three man-up situations and scooped 15 groundballs.

Matt Sweeney, Husson
(SR, Midfield - Norwood, MA)
Last week, Matt Sweeney paced the Eagles with 6 goals and 8 assists in Husson's three games throughout the week. Sweeney netted two apiece in each of the last three games, in non-conference play vs. MIT and Wheaton he added three assists for 5 points in each game. The senior midfielder also leads the Husson defense, scooping up a team-leading 7 ground balls in the loss to Curry.

Bradley Stiles, Thomas College

Stiles had an impressive weekend for the Terriers; Stiles kicked off the weekend with a five point performance in the Terriers loss to Cazenovia. Stiles put up a hat trick, dished out two assists, and won 5-of-8 face-off�s against the Wildcats. Stiles followed that performance with another hat trick against Mt. St. Vincent on Sunday.

Alex Green, Castleton

Green posted a team-high six points on five goals and one assist as Castleton opened the season 0-2. The freshman attackman posted a pair of goals in the team's season-opener at New England College, and followed it up with a three-goal, one-assist performance in Sunday's 9-8 loss at Western Connecticut.

(Freshman, Attack - Delmar, New York)
Randall fared well in his first game in a Lyndon uniform as the Hornets dropped a 20-9 decision to Becker College on Sunday. He scored two goals and collected one assist on four shots for the 0-1 Hornets.
