Thomas Falls to Connecticut College in the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament


NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Thomas College men's soccer team fell to Connecticut College 4-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Connecticut got out to a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute, with Liam Noonan taking a cross from Ben Manoogian and shooting into the open net to put the Camels ahead at the half.

The 1-0 lead stood until the 71st minute when Freddy Stokes scored unassisted to make it 2-0. Manny Balbontin scored twice int the final 18 minutes to give Connecticut the 4-0 win.

Jonathan Dutka (Durham, N.H.) made four saves in the loss for Thomas, while AJ Marcucci earned the shutout win for the Camels.

Connecticut College moves on to the second round where they will face either Ramapo or Springfield, while the 2018 campaign concludes for the NAC Champion Terriers.
