NAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Honors (Week Ending April 22)

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Robenson Saintard, Husson (Sr., Sprints - Port Charlotte, Fla.)

Saintard captured third in both the 100m and 200m dashes at the Maine State Championship (Bates College). The senior broke program records on his way to qualifying for the New England DIII Championship with times of 11.00 in the 100m and 22.55 in the 200m. 

 

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Karl Nyholm, Colby-Sawyer (Sr., Throws - Concord, Mass.)

Nyholm added to his impressive season by winning a pair of events and setting a school record as the Chargers finished fourth at Saturday's Tufts Sunshine Classic. He had a winning distance of 15.13 meters in the shot put and then bested his own discus school record, which he set last week (47.07m), with a new distance of 47.41 meters to place in front of 15 other competitors. 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Brodie Talbot, Castleton (Fr. - St. Johnsbury, Vt.)

Talbot continued his dominant freshman season at the Eric Loeschner Invitational on Saturday. The rookie took second out of 16 competitors in the discus with a top mark of 39.24m, which was the highest mark by a collegiate student-athlete at the meet as he finished just under four meters from first place. He also claimed a second place finish out of 16 competitors in the shot put with a launch of 12.94 meters, less than a half-meter away from first place.   

 

 

 

AROUND THE NAC

Castleton competed in the non-scoring Eric Loeschner Invitational at Fitchburg State on Saturday. The throwers paced the squad as Morgan Rainville (Shot Put) and Tayler Larmie (Hammer Throw) each came away with first place finishes, while Brodie Talbot earned a second place finish in the discus. The Spartans will compete in the NAC Championships at Colby-Sawyer on Sunday. 

Colby-Sawyer finished fourth at Saturday's Sunshine Classic hosted by Tufts University. A pair of Chargers came away with event victories. Michael Bullen picked up a victory in the javelin with a distance of 45.01 meters. The Chargers will host the NAC Championship on Sunday.

UMaine-Farmington competed in the Maine State Championships this past weekend, coming in fifth place.

Husson finished in fourth place at the State of Maine Championship meet. The Eagles will compete in the NAC Championship next weekend.

Johnson icompeted at the Albany Spring Classic on Saturday. Cameron Taylor set two program records, running an 11.88 100 meter and 23.96 200 meter. The Badgers will compete in the NAC Championship on Sunday.

Lyndon competed at the Trinity College Invitational on Saturday. Sprinter Hunter Torrey set new school records in the 100m and 400m dashes.

UMPI competed at the Eric Loeschner Memorial Invitational hosted by Fitchburg State on Saturday. The Owls will travel to Colby-Sawyer to participate in the 2018 NAC Championship on Sunday.
