SUNY Delhi Cruises to NAC Women's Soccer Quarterfinal Win

Oneonta, New York - The Broncos of SUNY Delhi exploded with five second-half goals to defeat SUNY Canton and advance to the semifinal round of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Soccer Championship tournament, hosted by Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine.

The game was scoreless through the first half. The Broncos held an early advantage in shots (8-5) and shots on goal (6-3), and also forced seven corner kicks in the first stanza. Alexa DuBois led the offence for SUNY Delhi with three shots (two on goal) in the first half. For the SUNY Canton Roos, Hanlon Crane had two shots and one shot on goal in the half.

Victoria Hanna made six first-half saves for the Roos, while Rachel Scoones stopped two shots for the Broncos.

The Broncos got hot in the second half on a chilly day, notching two goals in 44 seconds within the first eight minutes. First, Reanen Goodspeed connected with Kelsey Innes for a goal at 51:56. Just after resetting, Goodspeed buried a goal of her own from a Brianna Laing assist.

Micayla Slattery passed to Innes for her second goal four minutes later to give SUNY Delhi a commanding 3-0 lead.

Olivia Curry made it 4-0 with an unassisted goal for Delhi with 26 minutes remaining. DuBois added to the lead with an unassisted goal in the final five minutes.

Delhi kept the pressure on Canton's defense, notching 21 shots total, 15 of which were on goal. The Broncos also held a significant advantage in corner kicks, taking 14 to the Roos two.

Victoria Hanna made seven saves in 65 minutes in goal for SUNY Canton. Jenny Ward finished the final 25 minutes and made three saves.

Rachel Scoones made three saves in the shutout win.

The Broncos will face the undefeated top-seeded hosts of Maine Maritime in a semifinal matchup on Friday, November 8th. The winner will advance to the championship game on Sunday, November 10th.
