  • Husson Volleyball Earns ECAC Berth

    The Husson Eagles have earned a birth in the 2012 ECAC DIII Volleyball Tournament, facing the number two seed Golden Bears of Western New England University. The Eagles will travel to Springfield, Massachusetts this Wednesday for their first round matchup.

    The Colby-Sawyer volleyball team will make its fifth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and second straight when they travel to Potsdam, N.Y. to take part in an eight-team regional. The Chargers will play SUNY Cortland on Friday, November 9 at Clarkson University.

    NEW LONDON, N.H. - Top-seeded Colby-Sawyer College put the finishing touches on a perfect North Atlantic Conference (NAC) season with a 3-0 win over number-three Maine Maritime Academy in Saturday afternoon's tournament final at Coffin Fieldhouse.

    Colby-Sawyer sophomore outside hitter Jackie Keating has been selected the 2012 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year in a vote of the league’s coaches. Keating, who was a three-time Player of the Week honoree, posted a league-best .462 hitting percentage in conference play, and ranked fourth averaging 2.55 kills per set.
  • NAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors

    Colby-Sawyer was led by the play of Jackie Keating and Laura Smolinski this week, going 2-0 in preparation to host the NAC Championship. Keating averaged 13 kills in two matches and was named Player of the Week, while Smolinski facilitated the attack to the tune of 11.29 assists per set, earning Rookie of the Week accolades.

    Hannah Olstad led Husson to a 3-0 week, piling up 33 kills and 17 aces en route to being named Player of the Week. Laura Smolinski facilitated the Colby-Sawyer offense to a 3-0 week, averaging 10.5 assists per set and earning Rookie of the Week honors.

    Jackie Keating hit an impressive .411 and amassed 27 kills in three matches to lead Colby-Sawyer and earn Player of the Week honors. Amanda Chambers filled the stat sheet for Castleton in a 3-1 week, averaging better than two kills and three digs per set and was named Rookie of the Week.

Castleton's Shelby Smyth was a catalyst in the lone match for the Spartans this week, a NAC win over Green Mountain, posting six service aces, 16 assists and ten digs to earn Rookie of the Week accolades.

    Colby-Sawyer had an impressive week, defeating Keene State College for the first time in five years and taking undefeated Southern Vermont to five sets while sweeping the weekly honors. Jackie Keating piled up 37 kills in the three matches to earn Player of the Week honors, while Laura Smolinski was named Rookie of the Week aferaging 9.50 assists per set.

    Colby-Sawyer put up some very impressive numbers against some of the region's top teams and has swept this week's awards. Courtney O'Hara averaged 2.85 kills per set to garner Player of the Week honors, while setter Laura Smolinski racked up 108 assists in three matches and was named Rookie of the Week.

Bridget McCarthy was instrumental in a pair of Castleton wins which doubled the team's total from a season ago and earned Rookie of the Week honors.

  • Graves to Run Volleyball, Softball Programs at Maine Maritime

    CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy's Interim Director of Athletics, Steve Peed, announced the appointment of Penny Graves as the Mariners' Head Volleyball and Softball Coach on Thursday. Graves brings a combined 16 years of head coaching experience in the two sports on the NCAA Division II and Division III levels.
