Lail helped Maine Maritime to a 1-1 weekend at the Colby Invitational. The senior posted 36 kills, two service aces, 24 digs and eight blocks in two matches against Smith and Gordon.

 

 

 

 

 

Husson's Lindsay Chapman ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Champman had a big week for Husson, as she helped her team go 3-2. In the SJC Autumn Invitational this weekend, Lindsay Chapman was named to the 2013 SJC Autumn Invitational all-tournament team. Chapman had a great all-around weekend for the Eagles, appearing in all 15 sets the team played. She compiled 29 kills, a .291 hitting percentage, 61 digs, six aces, and nine total blocks (6 solo) across four matches Friday and Saturday.

 

 

 

AROUND THE NAC

Castleton went 1-1 last weekend, earning a 3-0 sweep over Maine Machias before falling 3-1 to Southern Maine. Brittany Brayman led the offense in both contests totaling 15 kills and 27 digs. Shelby Smyth finished with 29 assists and six service aces. The Spartans travel to Smith to face Lasell and Western New England next weekend.

Colby-Sawyer won both of its matches last week with both coming at home on Saturday. The Chargers breezed to a 3-0 win over Bridgewater and then came from behind to beat the University of New England, 3-2. The Chargers begin a tough stretch as they do not have another home match until October 1. 

Green Mountain made a trip to New York City this past weekend and lost a pair of matches to Salve Regina and St. Joseph's (Long Island). The Eagles were ousted in three straight sets in both games. Kara Egan led all players with 12 kills and 22 digs in the two matches. GMC will next face Norwich on the road on Wednesday at 6 pm.

Husson went 3-2 overall this week and 2-2 on the weekend at the St. Joseph's College Autumn Invitational. The Eagles won their opening game against Lyndon State, dropped two to SJCME and Bates, and then beat Lyndon again in the consolation game. Lindsay Chapman was named to the 2013 SJC Autumn Invitational all-tournament team.

Johnson St. dropped its only match this week falling 3-0 to non-league competitor SUNY Cobleskill by set scores of 25-6, 25-11 and 25-20. The Badgers received four kills, five assisted blocks and four solo blocks from freshman middle blocker Andrea Williams in the losing effort. Johnson will use the week to prepare for a road match against SUNY Canton and Paul Smith's at 12:30 p.m.

Lyndon dropped four matches over the weekend at the annual St. Joseph's College Autumn Invitational. The Hornets fell 3-1 and 3-0 on Friday, to Husson and Bates, respectively, and dropped a 3-0 decision to tourney host St. Joseph's Saturday morning. In the ensuing consolation match, Lyndon turned in a competitive effort before falling 3-2 to Husson. The Hornets return to action on Wednesday when they face New Hampshire Tech in an exhibition match in Concord, N.H. at 7 p.m. 

Maine Maritime its their first match of the season in a 3-2 win over Gordon Saturday at the Colby Invitational. Maine Maritime lost to Smith, 3-1, on Friday.
