Player of the Week
Rachel Melampy, Maine Maritime
Sophomore, OH - Marshfield, Massachusetts
Melampy continued her impressive season and helped lead the Mariners to a 4-0 week, totaling 44 kills (4.00 k/s), 35 digs (3.18 d/s), two aces, and an assist. The sophomore also hit .444 on the week. In a double-header against UMaine-Fort Kent, Melampy tallied two double-doubles consisting of 12 kills and 15 digs, and 20 kills and 11 digs, respectively. She followed that up with 11 kills and eight digs in the Mariners' first-ever straight-set win over NESCAC's Colby College.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jenna Roat, SUNY Canton
Senior, LB - Penfield, New York
Roat averaged 4.64 digs per set over four matches last week for the Roos. The senior surpassed the Roos all-time NCAA D-III era program record for career digs on Friday against Morrisville State. Following the match, she had 1,794 (now 1,838) breaking the previous mark of 2016 graduate Robyn Carroll (1,793). Roat had double-digit digs (10, 11, 29, 15) in all four matches last week, tying a season-high with 29 in a four-set loss to Hartwick.
Rookie of the Week
Porsche Johnson, Northern Vermont-Johnson
First-Year, MB - Dallas, Texas
In a 1-2 week for the Badgers, Johnson recorded 33.5 points, nine digs, seven blocks, two assists, and 26 kills with a .286 hitting percentage. She ignited the team and led the Badgers to a 3-2 victory over Salem State with a career-high 18 kills on a .361 hitting percentage. She also racked up seven digs, three solo blocks, 22 points, one assist and one service ace in the match.
