NAC Women's Volleyball Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Chelsea Ward, Maine Maritime Academy
(Sophomore, Outside Hitter - Homer, AK)
Chelsea led MMA to it's 3rd consecutive NAC Title this weekend after collecting 34 kills in two matches. Ward had only 1 attack error on 55 attempts for an astounding hitting percentage of 60%. Ward, who was named the NAC Tournaments Most Outstanding Player also collected 9 aces, 14 digs, and 4 blocks in the two wins.

Jamie Lemieux, Castleton
(Sr., Middle Hitter - Argyle, NY)
Lemieux led Castleton to a pair of wins this past week, including the programs first-ever NAC Tournament win in its five-year existence. Lemieux had 26 kills and six service aces to lead the Spartan attack in wins over Paul Smith's and Lyndon State. The senior captain also added 18 digs and one solo block on the defensive side of the net.

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Whitney Walls, Me.-Farmington
(FR, S - Bar Harbor, ME)
Walls helped the Beavers to a 2-0 week with a 3-1 regular-season finale at Thomas and a 3-2 NAC quarterfinal win over Green Mountain. The freshman dished out 18 assists with nine service aces and 22 digs.

Chelsea Ward had 57 kills, 22 digs, 3 aces, and 12 blocks in MMA's 4 matches this week. Ward led MMA to arguably the biggest win in the programs history when they beat UNE 3-2. Ward had 27 kills, 16 digs, 3 aces and 4 blocks in the win.

Ashley Kepaa, Castleton
(Fr., Middle Hitter - North Attleboro, MA)
Kepaa helped Castleton to a 2-1 week, amassing 28 kills and seven service aces. The freshman also had a team-high 29 digs in the three matches, and added a solo block.

Emma Buckley, Green Mountain College
(SR., MH - Lakeville, CT)
Emma Buckley powered Green Mountain College to a pair of 3-0 NAC victories over the weekend tallying 33 kills, 11 digs and 6 service aces. Against Lyndon St., Buckley totaled 19 kills, 9 digs, and a pair of blocks and added 14 kills, 2 digs and 5 aces against Johnson St. College.

Ashley Kepaa, Castleton
(Fr., Middle Hitter - North Attleboro, MA)
Kepaa helped Castleton to a pair of wins over NAC opponents this past Saturday. The freshman tallied 29 kills and 11 service aces in wins over Lyndon State and Johnson State. The freshman also added 12 digs and nine solo blocks.

Kayla Brobst, Lyndon State College
(Sophomore, Middle Hitter - Merrimack, NH)
Brobst collected 27 kills, two assists, 11 aces, 11 digs and two blocked shots as Lyndon went undefeated for the week with 3-0 match victories over Hesser, Johnson State and Becker Colleges. On the season, she has amassed 100 kills, 10 assists, 31 aces, 63 digs and 33 blocks for the 7-9 Lady Hornets.

Jenn Dixon, Maine Maritime Academy
(Freshman, Setter - Woodstock, MD)
Dixon continued her torrid pace leading the Lady Mariners to another undefeated week. In MMA's two wins, Dixon collected 53 assists, 2 kills, 8 service aces, 9 digs and 3 block assists in two matches.

(Sr., Middle Hitter - Argyle, NY)
Lemieux led Castleton to three conference wins on the week as the Spartans defeated Green Mountain, Farmington and Thomas. The senior captain tallied 54 kills, for an incredible 4.91 per set. Lemieux also tallied 15 service aces (1.36 per set), 32 digs and three blocks for the Spartans.

Ward led MMA to another 3-0 week which included a win over rival Husson University. MMA won 9 games and lost 0 for the week. Against Husson, Ward led the team with 16 kills and collected 7 digs. Over the weekend in Vermont, the sophomore outside hitter collected 29 more kills with a hitting percentage of .615%. Ward only had just one reception error in 28 attempts.

(Freshman, Setter - Woodstock, MD)
Dixon helped lead MMA to a 3-0 week in which they never dropped a game. Dixon collected 84 assists to go along with 8 aces, 9 digs, and 6 kills from the setter spot. She averaged 28 assists per match and had a hitting percentage of .333%.

Lemieux led Castleton to a 2-0 week with wins over SUNY-Cobleskill (3-2) and Lyndon State (3-1). The senior captain amassed 42 kills (4.67/set)and three service aces to aid the offense. On the defensive side she contributed 14 digs and eight blocks (five solo) for the Spartans.

The freshman setter led MMA to a 2-1 week and a 10-2 overall record. Dixon collected 71 assists in just three matches. She also had and impressive 11 aces, 12 digs and 4 kills for the week.

Amy Young, Maine Maritime Academy
(Senior, Middle Hitter - Cumberland, ME)
Young was outstanding in MMA's three matches this week, leading the Lady Mariners to a 3-0 week and an 8-1 overall record. In her two NAC matches this week Young collected 17 kills, 4 aces, 8 digs, and 3 blocks. She also had a .333 hitting percentage. In her non league game this week, Young had 11 kills, 3 aces, and 6 digs. Her 28 kills for the week led the team.

The freshman setter led MMA to another 3-0 week and collected 86 assists in the process. Dixon began her NAC career with 30 assists in a 3-0 win over Castleton and then had 32 assists in a 3-0 win over Green Mountain.

Chelsea Ward was selected to the Colby Invitational All-Tournament Team after her performance this weekend. In four matches this week, the sophomore collected 71 kills, 23 digs, and 4 blocks and had only one reception error in 86 serve reception attempts over the four matches. Ward earned NAC Womens' Volleyball Player of the Week.

Jenn Dixon, Maine Maritime Academy
(Freshman, Setter - Woodstock, MD)
The Freshman setter collected 120 assists, 20 digs and 7 kills in four matches this week and helped the Lady Mariners to a 4-1 record while averaging 30 assists per contest. Her 38 assists in a 3-0 win over Southern Maine broke the school record for assists in a three game match. Dixon also had 25 assists and 9 digs in a close 1-3 loss to NESCAC perennial power Colby College.

Ward led the Mariners to a 2-0 start on the year collecting 21 kills, 4 aces, and 6 digs in MMA's 2 matches. Ward had 14 kills in MMA's 3-0 win over Lesley University and then had 7 kills in limited action in a 3-0 win over UMaine Machias.
