  • NAC Women's Cross Country All-Conference Announced

    Husson University’s Alecia Palmer ran to a first place finish in 19:32 at the recent North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Cross Country Championship, earning Runner of the Year Honors. An all-conference first team member a season ago, Palmer put the finishing touches on a stellar sophomore campaign that saw her earn NAC Runner of the Week honors three times during the season.

    HENNIKER, N.H. – Husson University captured the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women’s Cross-Country Championship on Saturday on the campus of New England College in Henniker. The Eagles were closely followed by Colby-Sawyer who finished in second place just ten points shy of the leaders and University of Maine Farmington who grabbed the third spot.

    The University of Maine at Farmington finished second at the Runnin' Monks Invitational, as Salena Sykes and Farren Welzel led the charge. Sykes was sixth overall, touring the five-kilometer course in 22:29 to earn Runner of the Week honors, while Welzel was seventh at 22:51 and was named Rookie of the Week.

    Alecia Palmer cruised to a second-place finish at the Colby Invitational, finishing as the top collegiate competitor and leading Husson and earning Runner of the Week honors. Farren Welzel scored 14th at the same race, helping UMF to a third-place finish and was named Rookie of the Week.

    Husson earned a decisive win at the Johnson State College Invitational this week, thanks in large part to the efforts of Alecia Palmer and Kateri Jeffrey who swept weekly honors for the second-straight week. Palmer cruised to her second win of the season and was named Runner of the Week, while Jeffrey came in third at the event and earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Sophomore Alecia Palmer won for the first time at the collegiate level and was named Runner of the Week, while teammate Kateri Jeffrey finished third and earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
