NAC Women's Cross Country All-Conference Announced

First-year runner Abby Shafer has been named the North Atlantic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner and Rookie of the Year after her performance at the NAC Championship this weekend. Shafer paced the field, finishing the 5K event in 20:40.78, edging out 2012 Runner of the Year Alecia Palmer of Husson.

Shafer earns the second-straight Rookie of the Year honor for New England College, joining teammate and fellow first-team all-conference runner Rachel Orlando who took home the honor a season ago.

In a vote of the conference coaches, New England College Head Coach Wilson Perez was honored as conference Coach of the Year after leading the Pilgrims to the conference crown.

Husson which narrowly missed out on its third-straight conference championship was awarded the Team Sportsmanship Award in a vote of the conference coaches for a third-straight season.

The top seven finishers, plus the medalist at the NAC Championship are honored as All-Conference First Team runners, while the next seven runners are honored as All-Conference Second Team runners.
